Locals call the view from Rothorn “the chocolate-box side of the Matterhorn”. No wonder: the view from Rothorn at 3,103 m offers the best panorama of the surrounding mountains. One four-thousand-metre peak after another is spread at your feet a unique panorama!
But the mountains in the Zermatt-Matterhorn holiday region are not just there to be admired. On the contrary! Summer and winter, they offer ideal conditions for experiences that you will treasure for a long time to come. At Rothorn there are numerous holiday activities on the list: from hiking and biking in summer to snowshoe trekking and skiing in winter.

Great way to see the Matterhorn. I'm not sure why there were so few people because it is really worth doing. I think it is because there is very little advertising/signage in the town about it and you have to walk about 5-10 minutes from the centre of town to the funicular.

This was our favourite excursion -fortunately most tourists go to the Matterhorn Paradise and not the Rothorn. We spent 5 hours at the top - just walking around the area - admiring the view - taking lots and lots of photos. We watched a few para-gliders take off and just admired their freedom in the air. The scenery was absolutely amazing !! Don't miss this opportunity
