This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Basel Minster, Basel
Your tour guide will await you at your hotel or at the river cruise terminal. Together you will make your way into the city center and start with a visit of the "Tinguely Fountain", a unique fountain designet by the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely. Just footsteps away, you will visit the "Elisabethenkirche", one of the churches out of th 19th century in a Swiss revival gothic style. The church is one of the first "Swiss open churches" for spiritual, cultural and social needs.
By a short transfer by the typical Basel tram (light rail) you will arrive at the Gate of Spalen, a former city gate and one of the three remaining gateways. Your tourguide will lead you further towards the university of Basel, Switzerland's oldest university founded in 1460. You will get the information about the university library and the faculties, before you will continue towards the old town. You will see hidden squares and narrow alleyways before you arrive at the eye-catching sight at the market square and the city hall. After leaving the city hall, you'll continue with your guide to the cathedral of Basel and you will have a beautiful view to the Rhine river and the city part "Kleinbasel". To get to the other side on the Rhine river, your tourguide will lead you to the ferry and cross the river without motorised assistance.
You will be guided along the Rhine river towards "the heart of Kleinbasel", originally a independent city and buildt by immigrants and guest-workers. Several cultural spotlights are located closed to the "Kaserne", the largest center in north-west Switzerland for the free contemporary theatre, dance and performance scene. From there on your tourguide will lead you by tram to another architectural highlight in Bael: the event hall at Messe Basel (exhibition square). The covered, public space and the renewal of the complex is designed by "Herzog & de Meuron".
Continue your tour in direction of the "Roche" tower building, the tallest building in Switzerland and visible well from all points in Basel. From there on, you will cross the Rhine river again to get back to "Grossbasel" and pass along the historic "St. Alban" district before getting to the museum of art. The first collection dates back in 1661, the first building was inaugurated in 1936. The loop of your tour closes here and your tourguide is happy to assist you in your further planning of a museum visit or will lead you back to your hotel or river cruise terminal.
