Sandboarding just outside Port Elizabeth. Experience the high speed and adrenaline thrill of sandboarding or sand surfing on some of the highest, as well as one of the world’s largest, coastal dunefield systems in the world. The Alexandria Coastal Dunes are situated at the mouth of the Sundays River near the Addo Elephant National Park, a mere 40km from Port Elizabeth.
Take a leisurely 40-minute cruise on the Sundays River Ferry to the dunefields where the vessel will stop at the base of one of these dunes. As you disembark the river cruise boat you step directly onto the sand beach at the foot of the dune.
A huge advantage of this cruise is the fact that there is no need to walk huge distances carrying equipment and your kit.

The sand is fine and fast and best in low wind and offshore NW wind conditions. Dunes are perfectly shaped for the fast, more experienced boarder as well as gentle slopes for beginners.
Largely similar to snowboarding, sandboarding is the art of standing with two feet locked onto a thin tensile board and sliding or carving arcs down a dune.
