On the way to the interior of the island we have the opportunity to observe the fields where the wild cattle lives, as well as how rich is the interior of Terceira, preserved and maintained by the locals over the centuries. We pass in the middle of a volcano, Pico da Bagacina, arriving at the location of the trail where you will be amazed with the wonderful Lagoa do Negro. The trail develops in the area of one of the most recent eruptions of Terceira Island, surrounded by pastures, forests of Japanese cedar among other species that coexist with the stunning endemic vegetation. In the last part of the trail we have the opportunity to observe the crater of Pico Gaspar volcano, rich in endemic flora. Our lunch picnic will be on the Lagoa das Patas with its natural evolvence where you can breathe the fresh air of the forest, and try to interact with the friendly ducks that live there. After lunch, time to go inside the earth, to visit the cave of Natal. Originated from lava tubes and geological structures as diverse as run-offs from different types of lava, stalactites and lateral balconies. Driving to Angra do Hero□smo, still time for a short stop at Guilherme Moniz caldera, a protected area, characterized by the presence of protected species from the micronesian forest.
