Excellent Tour. Ricardo joined us at our hotel and we began a comfortable private walking tour of Porto. Along the way, Ricardo pointed out significant landmarks from the 1808 battles of Porto and description of life under French and British occupation. Ricardo is very knowledgeable about local history and has an easy welcoming style. He pointed out lots of interesting sights to visit during our stay. We visited the old prison, now a museum of photography, where the French held their prisoners defensive strong points of the Se Cathedral, Carmo Convent and Torre and Igreja dos Clerigos the site of the old Porto bridge which collapsed from civilians trying to escape the French to the Douro River crossing points where the British crossed to retake the city. Ricardo made the tour very special for both the history student me and for orienting on the sights and beauty of Porto. I strongly recommend both Ricardo and this tour early in your stay in Porto.
