Meet your guide and join him to learn more about the city's flavors. First you'll have the opportunity to meet one of the most emblematic markets of Oporto: The Bolhão Market, aimed for fresh products, mainly food. With four main entrances, its construction is characterized by its monumentality, typical of neoclassical architecture. Lose yourself in the aromas, colors and sound so typical of this city market.
A little further up, we present the renowned Café Majestic, revivalist style of French inspiration, an icon in the city. More than a cafe, Majestic tells the story of Porto in the twentieth century and it was home for political gatherings and debate of ideas. This was the "Belle Epoque" Porto of writers and artists.
The S. Bento train station, Ribeira and the English Feitoria will be other passing sites where you can learn more about the city's history and how it mainly became a market town where Port Wine was a major contributor to its growth.
Further down, taste some unique Portuguese jams, also in a commented tasting. Try a unique flavor experience of fruit jams in tubes.
Heading towards the other shore, did you know that Vila Nova de Gaia is the place with the highest concentration of alcohol per square metre in the world? The world famous port wine is produced exclusively from grapes from the region adjacent to the Douro and, even though it is produced with Douro grapes and stored in the cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, it ended up being known as "Port Wine", so you are in just the right place to drink this néctar. Here you will have the opportunity to taste a few Port's on a commented tasting in a place and brand of excellency.
After the 3h00 tour walking around Porto, we end the tour in a beautiful, tipycal and local tavern with authentic flavors to sample, where you can enjoy this delicious plate in your own privacy! My friend and I were disappointed with this tour. Having done something similar in Lisbon in January we were really looking forward to it as the Lisbon one was superb. This poor review is not to do with the guide as he was really friendly and informative, more to do with the content not being as described - as well as the quality of the tapas! We met at the market entrance but were not shown inside or given the opportunity to shop for ingredients neither did we visit the Majestic Caf□ one of the most historic meeting spots in Porto. We did stop to sample the jams but the pieces of cheese to accompany the jams were miniscule, although there was some sliced croissants on offer as well as the cheese. The proprietors seemed keen to sell the produce rather than just offer information and samples. The port wine tasting was excellent with four quality ports to sample and a very passionate and knowledgeable owner. Last stop was the tapas. We had been shown the restaurant en route to the wine cellar and told to return there at 7pm. This meant we had well over an hour to kill after the port wine tasting ended. The guide left us during the port wine tasting. Upon returning to the restaurant we were given a bowl of olives and some bread with a selection of sliced sausage cooked in olive oil. This was it for the feast on traditional tapas plates and to add insult to injury we were not given the mug of house wine to accompany our very limited food! All in all a misleading description of the Tapas and Port Wine Walking Tour and overall a disappointing experience.

This tour was excellent. Our guide was very knowledge and friendly. We had an excellent morning. The port tasting was excellent, no pressure from the port company and the tapas meal also excellent. The owner of the restaurant was no friendly and the food really good. I cannot speak highly enough of this tour and what good value for money it was.
