Porto is filled with tiles from churches, train stations, shops and ordinary homes, you find buildings covered by them. some form billboards other coating patterns.
Here in the north there were huge factories that produced and exported tiles all over the world. Take part in this opportunity to learn about its history, the factories and its painters, and the the different techniques and applications associated with the craft.
Meet at the lion fountain outside Carmo Church and go for a guided walk through the historic center of this UNESCO heritage portion of the city where see one of its most important assets: tiles.
You will visit many places including churches, depots, stores and the train-station. On the walk you will find numerous other panels, patterns or friezes tiles, for which will also be made, a brief explanation of their historical framework.
