Your day starts with a visit to the rightly famous Atsuta Jingu (Shrine), overflowing with grand edifices, grander trees, and yet still grander history and religious significance. You'll learn about Shintoism and the role of religion in Japan in general, both today and yesterday. Next, we hop on over to Shiratori Garden, a truly magical natural oasis, indisputably a favorite of locals and visitors alike.
After lunch (not included), continuing along your discovery of all things famous in Nagoya, you'll move on to the Tokugawa Museum, a hallowed ground that commands artifacts and spaces that drive home memories like few other spots in greater Nagoya. Here, in addition to the many famous swords, regalia, furnishings and more from this renown samurai's era, you'll find calm and inspiration in the beautiful gardens just outside the museum halls. Finally we take a nice ride to "Noritake no Mori," where, interspersed across the lovely landscaped grounds, you'll get to see gorgeous ceramics up close. You'll also see how these masterpieces dating back to 1904 have been made. Noritake is a world famous institution in the world of ceramics, and this facility has something for artist and industry buffs as well.
With a knowledgeable guide at your side, you'll learn about Nagoya's history, indulge in a right-sized amount of great art and artifacts, and restore the spirit across two different gardens. No buses, no loudspeakers, no being herded about.
