A unique blend of a harbor city and a castle town, Fukuoka is a fascinating melting pot of history, culture, modernity and food, making the city a fantastic destination for visitors.
Being close to the Asian mainland, Fukuoka has been an important region for centuries as seen in the number of castles, shrines and temples scattered around the area. The ruins of Fukuoka Castle in Maizuru Park, Dazaifu Temmangu shrine and Kushida shrine are some of the more famous attractions.
More recently, the proximity to Asian markets and easy access to other major Japanese cities has seen Fukuoka gain a reputation as the leader in innovation and center of commerce in the region. As a result, a vibrant and modern city has emerged including The Seaside Momochi area, where Fukuoka Tower stands, and Canal City Hakata, an entertainment complex filled with quirky colorful architecture. A buzzing startup community has also developed injecting a young and trendy vibe.
Food is also a major component of Fukuoka so a trip to the Nakasu and Tenjin area are a must to sample the hundreds of ‘yatai’ food stalls. Eat your way through local delicacies like oden, Hakata ramen and motsu nabe to name a few.
The driver will pick you up at your chosen location within Fukuoka city anytime between 08:00~16:00 so you can choose to have a morning, afternoon or evening tour. If you do not specify a time, the tour begins at 09:00. Tell the driver where you would like to go and that's it! The driver will drop you off at your chosen departure point within the allotted 5 hour period.
