Depart from Trieste and arrive at your first stop, Gorizia, a border town with Habsburg atmosphere. Here, breathe in the history of WWI. Visit the historic center and the medieval castle.
Continue to the castle of Spessa, surrounded by a magnificent park between golf courses and vineyards. Founded in 1200, the castle was the home of the nobility of Friuli for centuries and much loved by Giacomo Casanova. Visit the cellars where the refining of the famous wines takes place since the fourteenth century. Then enjoy a free tasting.
Spend the afternoon in Cividale del Friuli, perched on the banks of the Natisone river. Visit the Longobard Temple and the monastery of Saint Maria in Valle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Follow the streets of the city center and pass by the imposing fortification walls that enclose the majestic city gates. Explore the Celtic Hypogeum, admire the Church and contemplate the Natisone from the Devil’s Bridge.
