Our itineary starts from the church of Santa Apollinare Nuovo, visiting its beautiful mosaics that are placed on the walls of the nave. Did you know that king Theodoric dedicated this church to the Arian cult?
We're moving towards the Dante’s thumb crossing the Church of San Francesco with its crypt under water. Do you know why Dante Alighieri (most famous Italian poet) died here in Ravenna? He then left for the Baptistry of Neon bishop, so simple on the outside as it is rich in decorations inside. Crossed the lanes of the city we will arrive at the entrance of the complex of San Vitale basilica, the magnificent church built on an octagonal plan.
Here we will discover the magnificence of the Interior mosaics in the presbytery and apse content and we'll talk in front of Justinian emperor and Theodora empress . We will cross the garden to visit the small mausoleum of Galla Placidia empress with its incredible polichrome mosaics.
