Start your day in Montecatini and meet our driver with shuttle service to Florence. Upon arrival at 9am, you’ll have free time to walk around or to visit museums, shops before the departure of the tour.
At 2:30pm you’ll start the Pizza & Gelato class tour in which you’ll learn how to make two of the most delicious Italian dishes: pizza and ‘gelato’. Meet our chef, learn the techniques and bring home the recipes to impress your family and friends. The tour starts in Florence via Martelli 33red, where after the check-in you’ll reach by our minivan the you’ll reach by our minivan the cooking school (around a 10-minute ride). The chef will start the class by introducing the history of these Italian wonderful creations briefly. After that you will learn how to make the original Italian pizza step by step: you will be taught the tricks for tender flexible yeast dough as well as for a tasteful, yet light, tomato sauce. Our chef will show you the right way to stretch the dough and you will have the chance to do it yourself.
You will make your very own pizza: you will stretch it, sauce it and finally bake it. The result will surely be the best pizza you have ever tasted! After you have become familiar with pizza you will be taught the secrets to make Italian ‘gelato’: you will get to know the basic raw ingredients and how to select the best products. You will learn about the development and application of natural colours, the heating and freezing techniques and how they have different effects on ingredients. You will soon realize how easily you can make these delicious dishes on your own! At the end of the class you will also get a Graduation Certificate!

My wife and daughter and I were really excited about doing this excursion but were a little worried about there being no reviews at the time for this tour. We left Montecatini at around 7:40 am10 mins later than posted. We arrived in Florence at a restaurant where they had a makeshift meeting point for a lot of the tours. The tour promised a 90 minute walking tour of Florence but when we arrived we were told that we were misinformed and that the walking tour isn't until 1:30pm which wouldn't work for us since our tour started at 2:30pm. We were then left on our own to do whatever we want but so they put us on a tram which we had to pay for and sent us down to Central Station which was only one stop away. We toured around Florence and climbed the steps of the Duomo which I highly recommend if you want to see all of Florence from high up. We met up at the tour company's headquarters near the DuomoMy Tours where we met a gentleman who spoke little English and basically walked us a couple of blocks to meet another guy that spoke less English to take us to where we would learn to make pizza and gelato. He drove us in his mini van and but it didn't feel right as we thought this tour was to take place in Florence but we drove for almost an hour to Castelnuovo Baredenga, Tuscany to a restaurant called Il Mulino where we met the owner named Simon. He was the best part of the trip and quite frankly is the reason I am giving this tour a 4 star and not a zero. He showed us how to make awesome pizzas with some great tips. Unfortunately he didn't have a gelato machine which is supposed to be part of the Pizza and Gelato Cooking Class however he showed us how to make a great tiramisu. The location was beautiful but an hour drive from downtown Florence. The driver was absolutely brutal and what I mean by that is that he somehow forgot he was driving a family to this tour. He was driving upwards of 150-160 km/hour which is absolutely stupid and dangerous. At times he was driving almost double the speed limit. I actually have video of this. In my opinion Viator gave us the wrong information according to the local tour company and we should receive a partial credit since we didn't get what we actually signed up for. We were dropped off at the same location that we were taken to first thing in the morning and had to wait about 90 minutes to be taken back to Montecatini. Unfortunately this wasn't downtown so we basically hung out at a coffee shop. Make sure to ask lots of questions before you hand over your for this tour. The restaurant owner said he was asked last minute somewhat to head up this tour because of some complications.
