    Meet your assistant in either Bari or Brindisi to travel to Polignano a Mare, or directly in Polignano a Mare. Climb into the awaiting vehicle for transfer to the Porto di San Vito,where you'll board the boat that will take you to the sea caves.
    Cruise out into the sea and enjoy the views from the water. Admire the Grotta delle Rondinelle and Grotta of Episcopina. See the famous Grotta Palazzese, which features in historic encyclopedias and French engravings. You'll be close to the Cave of Chiangella, named forthe tears of the despair of mothers over the fate of their daughters, abducted during raids by Saracens and pirates.
    The sea caves are of particular interest due to the erosive action of water, wind and the karst phenomenon which have created a charming setting. See the unique formations, play of colors, and light displays and you'll see why nature is the true artist here.

    We began at the Polignano train station and were picked up by car exactly as promised and driven to the spot where we would meet the boat. The boat was not there yet but the young man who drove us there stayed with us and made sure we were fine until the boat arrived just a few minutes, the boat was not late, he even helped us find a last minute restroom!

    We had a wonderful time on the small private boat with David our guide and boat driver, we were the only boat on the water. We began our tour in the afternoon sunshine and the views looking back at Polignano did not disappoint, such a beautiful place. David was great and knowledgeable about all the sea caves, he gave us interesting stories about each one and additional facts along the way. Our driver was skilled and slipped us into some of the cases with ease.
    Being on the boat with personal attention was a very welcome diversion from the sidewalk crowds.
    In the tour description swimming was listed as part of the itinerary, but it was still too chilly and did not expect to stop and swim. I think that just made our boat trip longer, which we were happy about.
    After the tour we simply walked the short distance back to the seaside boardwalk in Polignano, it went perfectly, would not change a thing.
