Behold the blue Iznik tiles on the walls and listen as your guide explains the rituals that happen here.Next, walk through the Hippodrome, where chariot races and other sporting events were once held, and arrive at the UNESCO-listed Hagia Sophia. Built in the 6th century, this incredible building was the greatest church in Christendom until it became a mosque in 1453 and a museum in 1935.With your guide to accompany you, enjoy skip-the-line access and explore the interior, admiring the soaring dome and shining gold Byzantine mosaics.Then, continue to the Basilica Cistern, the 6th-century, columned underground facility that once brought water into the city. Avoid the often long main entrance lines and descend below ground to gape at the cistern's size and the Roman-era Medusa heads on two of its columns.Next, stop outside Topkapi Palace to hear tales of this former home of the Ottoman sultans before heading for a traditional restaurant for a hearty lunch of Turkish appetizers, kebab meat and sides (see the Itinerary for a sample menu).Duly refreshed, walk on to the Grand Bazaar, one of the world’s biggest covered markets. Trace the lanes of stalls selling jewelry, ceramics and other goods, and perhaps buy souvenirs as your guide teaches you how to haggle.Then, call by at the colorful Spice Bazaar before heading to the Bosphorus for your cruise. Board a private boat with just one other, 15-strong tour group, and cruise the waters between Europe and Asia, passing some of Istanbul’s landmarks on route.After your cruise, go ashore on the Asian side and finish your tour at a rooftop cafe near the medieval Galata Tower. Just perfect. The tour, the tour guide Alp and the organisation was faultless, from beginning to end. As an introduction to Istanbul I do not think that this tour could be beaten. The guide's local knowledge really brought Istanbul to life and his wit kept us entertained from beginning to end. It was well paced and well sized.
I could not recommend this highly enough, if you want to see Istanbul as it should be seen then this is the tour you need to take.

This tour was absolutely amazing! We got to see pretty much all the key highlights of Istanbul in one day. Guneysp?, our tour guide was so awesome, very friendly, outgoing and knows the city inside and out. The restaurant they took us for lunch was soooo good, in fact we went back for lunch couple of days after. The variety of food was great, we got to have a taste all the different kinds of Turkish food. The vendors they took us to at the grand bazaar were great, especially at the spice bazaar, we bought so many spices! It can be overwhelming in the bazaar with all the shops and people but the tour guides made us feel very comfortable the whole time. They gave us tips on what to do and answered all of our questions. The cruise was fantastic, took us along the Bospherous. We did the tour on the first full day that we got to Instanbul, which was the best decision we made because it allowed us to get familiar with the city and how to get around. Highly recommend this tour to anybody! On our whole Trip visited Italy as well, this Istanbul Tour was our favorite by far!
