Your three-day sightseeing tour of Bangkok takes you on an exciting venture through this colorful city, known for its klongs (canals) and Buddhist temples. You’ll view these historical landmarks and delve into the market culture of Thailand with visits to four famous temples and five markets!Your tour includes 2-, 3- or 4-star accommodation (based on option selected at time of booking), four meals and a complimentary airport arrival transfer. With your first day free to get comfortable in your surroundings, you’ll enjoy a half-day city tour by tuk tuk plus a half-day walking tour on the second day. Day 1: Bangkok ArrivalBegin with pickup at the Bangkok airport or, if you’re already in the city, make your own way to New World City Lodge for check-in at 2pm. (If you arrive earlier, you can arrange for luggage storage until your room is ready.)Your guided itinerary begins the following morning, so you’ll have the rest of the day and evening to explore the bustling capital of Thailand on your own. Your centrally located hotel puts you right in the midst of the action, with easy access to many nearby attractions like temples, street stalls, shopping and restaurants.Ask for a map and directions from the hotel reception, and explore the local vicinity on foot or by taxi. If you’d like, head to the Grand Palace, search for bargains on Khao San Road or grab a delicious bite of pad Thai (fried noodles) from a street vendor located just outside your door.If the city streets feel too chaotic to navigate on your own, consider a luxury night cruise along the Chao Phraya River, passing many of Bangkok's most iconic sights. Or, there’s nothing quite like a traditional Thai massage to rest your mind for the perfect night’s sleep before the two days of guided sightseeing ahead!Overnight: 2-, 3-, or 4-star hotel in BangkokDay 2: Bangkok (B, L, D)After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will pick you up around 8:30am for your city tour exploring by tuk tuk for 4 to 5 hours (depending on the size of the small group) and meeting again in the afternoon for a 5- to 6-hour walking tour.Starting from Phra Sumeru Fortress, built during the reign of Rama I on the banks of the Chao Praya River, climb aboard your tuk tuk and head past Thammasart University to the Amulet Market. Here, stroll past vendors selling Buddhist amulets, charms and traditional medicines as your guide explains the cultural significance of these objects believed to bring good luck or ward off evil.Next, stop at the 17th-century Wat Pho, Bangkok’s oldest Buddhist temple located next to the Grand Palace. Take a small-group guided tour through the 20-acre (9-hectare) complex and admire the 140-foot (43-meter) long reclining Buddha. Learn about this center of Thai Buddhism the country's first university and a training ground for traditional Thai massage and medicine.Travel by tuk tuk to Phahurat Market to find fabric, cloth, ornaments and delicious snacks in the heart of Bangkok's Little India. Then, continue to Woeng Nakoen Kasem, a second-hand market also referred to as Thieves Market for the stolen goods that once turned up for sale. Here, you’ll find a wealth of Thai and Chinese antiques, from porcelain to furniture.Your next tuk tuk stop is Wat Saket, dating back to the Ayutthaya era when it was used for cremation ceremonies. Take a small-group guided tour through the complex, situated at the bottom of a hill called the Golden Mount. Then, follow your guide up the 318 steps to the chedi (Buddhist stupa) and vista at the top, including views of nearby Rattanakosin Island.From here, you can choose to return to the hotel, continue personal sightseeing or visit a local market with your guide for lunch. Afterward, enjoy free time at leisure before joining your small group for your afternoon walking tour of Rattanakosin Island at 3pm.Meet your guide at the Viengtai Hotel lobby and begin your exploration at Ratchawong Pier on the Chao Praya River. From here, walk to the heart of vibrant Chinatown and visit the old markets on Yaowarat Road, where you’ll discover an array of enticing stalls including rare snacks at the night market after dusk. As you stroll with your small group, learn about the original Chinese traders who relocated to the quarter 200 years ago uprooted from their original location where the Grand Palace was built after Bangkok became the capital.From the pier, continue your walking tour along Song Wat Road, passing old business buildings and warehouses onto Yaowa Phanit Road, where leather and plastics are produced. Your guide will accompany your small group to a 100-year-old caf□ on Pha Sai Road, where you can relax with a coffee and snack. After soaking up the atmosphere, walk to a market specializing in Chinese religious items and fresh food on Issarnuparb Road.In the evening, Yaowarat Road transforms into a food bazaar, from the finest Chinese restaurants to street food carts offering a variety of options. After a quick bike fitting and briefing, leave the city traffic behind as you wend your way through Bangkok’s tranquil and hidden delights few people know about suburban back streets and small lanes along the riverside stopping at landmarks on the way.Crossing over the famed Rama VIII Bridge, pedal alongside Bangkok Noi Canal past the king's royal barges, and stop to visit the stunning Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), known for its elaborate architectural design. Learn about the temple’s historical significance from your guide before heading with your small group across the Chao Praya River and back through the city via the Memorial Bridge built in 1929 to mark the city’s 150th anniversary.Next, visit Wat Suthat, home to Thailand’s biggest sitting Buddha image, and see the nearby Giant Swing (Sao Ching-Cha), a religious structure representing the movement of the God Shiva reserved for performances at grand ceremonies.From here, return with your guide and small group to the starting point around 1:30pm, where your trip concludes.
