Meet your private guide near to Chapel Bridge and begin your tour to the sound of the fire horn followed by the invocation pray. The Nightwatchman will tell you about his hard life in the middle ages before showing you the Martiniplan; the first city map of Lucerne, dating from 1597. You will see the route on the map and understand that many of the buildings shown on the map are still here today.
Hear about the torture chamber, the dungeon and the secret room in the Water Tower and see St. Peter’s Chapel, next to Chapel Bridge. Walk around the corner to Kapellplatz and hear about life in the Middle Ages in the Republic of Lucerne. Walking through the Furrengasse you learn about its Ghost and the Toggelis around him.
Next, head to the square by the town hall and see the Lucerne Foot and Elle on the tower. Your private guide will tell you the story of the Giant of Reiden. While listening to what the Nightwatchman has to say, you can enjoy a glass of the best water in Lucerne and then pass the lower wine market, where once the pillory was located.
As you continue your tour, the Nightwatchman will show you some “guardian Demons”. Stop at the legendary house of Lux Ritter and hear why the first two floors look different to the third. See paintings of the Dance of Death projected onto the walls.

Rolf was amazing. It was a drizzly evening but it didn't detract from his ability to take us back in time. He pointed out the historic buildings and explained the significance of murals, unique characteristics of buildings, historical details, putting details into perspective. Earlier in the day we had rambled through the Old Town but we had missed so many details. He used a projector to highlight aspects of history and art.. He also gave suggestions of some non tourist places to eat that would be less expensive. Great tour.

This was a great tour! Rolf was awesome- it is evident he truly loves his country and Lucerne. He provided humorous details as well as recommendations for other things to see,,, the night walk added a perfect amount of mystery to the tour...another must do especially for history buffs!!!
