Meet your guide at your accommodation in central Cape Town, and then set off in an air-conditioned minivan to begin your full-day tour of the Stellenbosch Winelands.
Start with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Cape Town.
Our wine experts custom-designed this tour to give you a real taste of the winelands region. Sample local produce, learn about flavour profiles and vintages and savour time sitting back and sampling some of South Africa’s finest in countryside views.
The day starts amongst the rustic fruit orchards and country gardens of Babylonstoren Estate where heady, herby smells are carried on the breeze and plump fruits hang ripe on trees. Groups of fatted ducks quack their way underfoot as guests tentatively explore the modest cheesery and handicraft store. In stark contrast to the water-colour-picture setting, the tasting room is a thoroughly modern affair and the wines add to the whimsical feel.
Then, it’s off down country laneways lined with leafy vineyards to the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains and Marianne Estate. Here, the business of wine is a serious affair but the staff are warm and inviting. Their South African terroir and French savoir-faire pays homage to the estate’s Bordeaux heritage and French-style wines.
As morning fades, you’ll meander through farmlands dotted with olives and grapes en-route to the Helderberg Mountains, which perfectly frame the verdant landscape. Clos Malvern is tucked away in a tranquil corner of the winelands. The farm’s reputation for great food and creatively innovative menus draw gourmands from all corners of the globe.
When the wine is flowing, it’s easy to work up a big appetite and your guide is happy to work with you to find the perfect fit whether it’s a wine farm restaurant or a sunny roadside cafe in Stellenbosch’s old town, just a short hop from the winery. We’ll go with the flow.
The last course on this Taste the Winelands Tour offers spectacular views and a unique wine philosophy that is literally music to the ears (and taste buds!). The owners of DeMorgenzon Wine Estate believe that playing Baroque music, day and night from large speakers in the vineyards has a romantically delicious effect on the grapes, and the flavourful, aromatic depth of these international award-winning wines certainly sings true. DeMorgenzon’s wines strike a good balance between lush fruit and crisp acidity with echoes of the garden in every bottle. You just have to taste it to believe it; the music does something to the wine! On that high note, you'll follow the sun and turn for home.
Your full-day tour then concludes in the late evening with a drop-off back at your Cape Town hotel.

We had a wonderful day seeing a part of the cape that we would not have if not for this tour. Our guide, Andrew, was excellent. Our pickup at the hotel was right on time. Andrew did everything throughout the day to make sure that we were comfortable. Our first stop was at a Dutch wine farm where we were able to wander around the lavender fields, see the farm animals and how the farm operates.
Our stop for lunch was great food which ended with an unusual paring of ice cream and wine. Our final stop of the day may have been a favorite, Ernie Els Winery. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio where there was a chipping green set up. All of us had multiple attempts of making the hole with one shot. It was a fun way to end the day. -
All the establishments we visited were brilliant ,the group of people on the tour all gelled,and our guide JP was super.All in all a well organised tour ,well worth the money.

Our driver, Gerhard, was very knowledgeable of the region. We started out at Ernie Ells winery and were totally amazed at the gardens and facility. The next two after that were not as impressive. Our second winery we felt that we had to wait on the staff more than expected. Loved the idea at the Stollenbosch Hills of pairing the meats with the wines. The whole trip was relaxed and we mostly moved at our own speed. Even Gerhard was OK with that!

Great tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the area and the wines involved. Highly recommended for anybody who visits Cape Town.
