Excellent tour with Matthew who was very informative - just wished we'd gone on this tour at the beginning of our stay in Cape Town instead of the end! He was also really thoughtful about making sure we were in the shade whenever we stopped for a while for him to talk. The only niggle is that part of the tour is currently inaccessible due to building work and will be unavailable for some time, so that it was only 75 mins instead of the advertised 90 mins - and I think we should have been informed about this change in advance.

As Matthew led me around the V and A Waterfront in Historic Dress it seemed as though we went back in time and was actually there.
I was the only one on the trip and had a very informative trip, and there was nothing Matthew did not know.
I can highly recommend going on this trip, and it is great value for money. -
I was lucky enough to have the best guide, Willhem, all to myself. He was a mine of information, being a local historian and journalist. He gave me a wonderful insight into Cape Town history, along with many anecdotes and personal stories.

Excellent tour. Informative guide who brought the Waterfront area to life. We would not have found the different spots ourselves or been able to put them into context. Learned a lot and it set the scene for our stay in this part of South Africa. Highly recommend it.

Matthew Feltman was a great guide and had a wealth of information on the V and A Waterfront. It was great chatting with him and learning about the history of the waterfront, as well as the surrounding areas.

Celebrated author, historian, and retired journalist, Willem Steenkamp provided us with a detailed historic tour of the Victoria and Albert Waterfront. The tour took about 2 hours and provided a detailed history of Cape Town's shipping and social history. Willem's well researched historic tour provided great anecdotes that outline how the V and A was at the heart of Cape Town and its history, and how it has managed to not only remain relevant, but to be a vibrant part of Cape Town's current life. There are 22 historical landmarks of interest to both local Capetonians and to tourists on the tour and Willem's knowledge of the history, his relationships with various local agents, and his great sense of humor provide a well researched and interesting tour.
For any person interested in getting a grounding in Cape Town's history, from it's origins with the Dutch East India Company through now, or just interested in history in general, this is a tour not to be missed!
