It’s time to cross the Tagus River by way of Vasco da Gama bridge (17km; 11miles) heading south to Setubal. In the beginning of the XX century Setubal was the most important center of Portugal's fishing industry, which was particularly focused on sardines. Nowadays, we can still see this fishing tradition in the main fish market that we will visit (closed on Mondays).
After Set□bal we will cross the astonishing Arrabida Mountain. Always close to the sea, we will pass close to amazing beaches (time to dive into these blue waters this summer), and then we will go to Sesimbra.
It is time for lunch, and the best option is to go to the oldest fish restaurant, owned by generations of fishermen. This will be the most authentic experience that you will have in Portugal, and we will enjoy it together (lunch costs not included).
Next, we will travel back in time and visit the medieval castle of Sesimbra that stands in a dominant position overlooking a cliff with the best view of the village and the ocean. After that it is time to visit Cabo Espichel, which is a famous cape due to impressive views of its cliffs facing the Atlantic Ocean. The location is also famous for the sanctuary complex (Nossa Senhora do Cabo Espichel Santuary), built extremely close to the edge of the tall cliffs. This complex also features a church still in use today.
After visiting these sites and having these adventures, it is time to go to the wine region of Azeitao. Here you will visit one of the oldest cellars of the region and you will learn about and taste some of the oldest wine in Portugal. Then, is time to go back to Lisbon.行程概要出發地點
