You start by being picked-up for your private tour, at a hotel or cruise port in Lisbon.
After crossing Lisbon’s old bridge, travel along the coast to the Arr□bida Mountain Range where you can see the breath-taking views of the Sado estuary, which is listed as one of the most beautiful bays of the world. Driving down the Arr□bida Mountain arrival at the city of Set□bal, where you will visit the Livramento Market that was established in 1930.

Stop At: Baia de Setubal, Setubal, Setubal District, Alentejo
In June/2015 by USA Today Travel (Food & Wine), considered the Livramento Market as one of the 10 best fish markets of the world. The market’s distinctive tiled walls, called “Azulejos”, comprised of 5,700 decorative tile pieces, the wall panels measure about 1,259 square feet and depict scenes of everyday local activities such as fishing and farming. You will see an assortment of local seafood laid out on counters and get to know how fish actually look like…
Sardines are a favourite at the market. According to the Portuguese National Tourist Office, 13 sardines per second are consumed in Portugal during the month of June.
To end your experience, and before heading back to Lisbon, you will lunch at a typical family run fisherman s restaurant where you will eat a delicious and traditional Mediterranean meal.

Five of us from the U.S. took this day trip with Paolo, our gregarious well-informed guild. At Fonte da Telha Beach, which is renowned for it's beautiful white sand coastline, we were introduced to several fishermen and invited into one fisherman's shack. We saw buckets of fish being salted and lines of fish drying, typical of what you would see in Portuguese markets. While we were there, a boat came in, and we watched as fish were unloaded and sold.
We drove to Setubal, a colorful seaside village, enjoyed going to the fish market and had a lovely lunch with Paolo at a typical outdoor family-run restaurant. The drive was beautiful and we were able to stop at a tile factory and have a demonstration of tile-making.
