    Sailors, fishermen and sea merchants, often away from home, were the pioneers of this musical genre, and would sing thebeautiful and melancholic music with a feeling of saudade, an emotion of longing or homesickness for their distant loved ones.
    Currently, Fado is considered part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is more than just a genre, it is a way of feelingand the sung expression of the Portuguese soul.
    You will pass by historical neighborhoods such as Bairro Alto, Alfama and Mouraria, to learn more about the traditional aspectsof life, so you can get a feel of the city like a true local, a ‘Lisboeta’! Along the tour you will try a variety of food samples andwines and get to see real live performances from ‘fadistas’ alongside the traditional sound of the Portuguese guitar.
    We’ll start in Bairro Alto, one of the most traditional areas to enjoy Fado in Lisbon. Here you’ll have some food samples and aglampse on the Fado music gender. Afterwards, we’ll walk towards downtown and go through the Mouraria, one of the mosttraditional districts in Lisbon, where according to the traditions, the first lady who sang the Fado for the first time was born:Severa. Feel the Mozarabian district and it’s narrow and full of charm streets. Here you’ll have a cultural insight about this musicgender and some more food and drink samplings. We’ll finish this tour with a beautiful walking around the castle hill towardsAlfama, where we’ll finish the tour and have a diversified food sampling along with a Fado Show. You’ll feel like a true Lisboeta.
    Note: Starting from 1st March 2019 this activity will become a walking tour. It will not include a full-course dinner but a multiple sampling of traditional finger food and local delicacies like "Pataniscas". It also includes a live performance in two different Fado houses.

English, Spanish and Portuguese are available all year round. French, Italian, Russian and Romanian ONLY ON REQUEST (according to availability). A CONSIDERABLE amount of walking is involved. Not wheelchair accessible. In case of adverse weather conditions (e. g. heavy rain), the tour can be cancelled, without prior notice. Refund will be given in these cases. It is not recommended to bring children below age 6 (during musical performances, it is required to be totally silent, including pausing from eating) There's no special dress code, although it's recommended not to bring slippers.     We had a very enjoyable evening. We enjoyed meeting the other guests on the tour, only 7 including us. The dinner and music were very good. Excellent guide.

    This tour was advertised as a small-group event that lasts about 5.5 hours with the tour being about 2 hours and the dinner show being about 3 hours. What I got was a 0.5 hour car tour and a dinner show all by myself the guide didnt accompany me and there were no other guests. I could have simply walked to one of many local Fado dinner show venues and enjoyed a full meal and drinks for much less than half of what I paid, if I just wanted to eat by myself. Unfortunately for me, the experience wasnt as advertised and was a disappointment. That being said, the Fado show was fantastic, the food was good and the tour guide was nice.

    Nice and friendly guide or driver, pick up / return from / to hotel and drive to view of city was nice. We were then dropped off at fado show / dinner. The show was good not great, not many songs and over at 11:00pm and dinner with glass of wine OK to good. So what is wrong? Well we could have made the reservation or worked into the restaurant on our own and payed half the price. 170 for two - I expected something great. The cost for a very good dinner for two with show would have been around 80 at the same place on our own. Also no special seating or attention - we were in the back but a small place and could not see the musicians. A touristy place one larger group and one couple on their own. NOT recommending - a 100 mark up, please you are ruining it!

    We had a wonderful evening on this tour. We were picked up at our hotel and enjoyed a driving tour around the city. It was interesting to see other parts of the city as we picked up our fellow passengers, before heading to a beautiful look-out over Lisbon. The fado restaurant was excellent - an intimate room, good food, and several fado singers. We would highly recommend this tour. Special thanks to our guide Vasco.

    A terrific evening starting with some history of the cultural area of Lisbon as well as learning about the roots of Fado. Time to view the city from a night vantage point was spectacular! This was followed by an incredible Fado performance at a Chiado caffe, Sabor a Poesia. Added to the entertainment was a great time finding a way to converse with the Brazilian couple on my tour. A very special evening!

    We enjoyed the night tour and the explanation of Fado. The guide played the 2 main types of Fado as we drove. It was helpful once we heard it. The meal was average but the service was very good. The room was cozy.

    Very interesting, Tiago was very informative, the fado show was amazing, though a shadow of new approach, dinner also was good.
