This is a typical itinerary for this product
We sail along the beautiful looking Bay of Funchal looking out for Whales, Dolphins playing, jumping, splashing in their natural environment. Often we spot them.
Pass By: Magic Dolphin
After enjoying watching the beautiful creatures, we head for Cabo Girao. We will stop here in the summer months for a quick swim.
On our way way we call into Camara do Lobos where Winston Churchill passed his afternoons doing his paintings once upon a time.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on this tour. We had great weather and the boat was very comfy - especially on the loungers on the front of the catamaran. The crew were helpful and informative - learning about the wildlife in the area was very interesting.
The crew had sighted an atlantic spotted dolphin in the distance so we headed towards it, and a whole pod of dolphins turned up and raced the boat. It was amazing! I'd never seen dolphins in the wild so I was already impressed, but even the other seasoned travellers commented on how unusual it was to see so many at once. They followed the boat for a long time, even when we tried to leave. We also saw a big Loggerhead Turtle, but he wasn't as bothered and didn't hang around for long.
We spent too long with the dolphins so we didn't get chance to swim under the Cabo Girao cliffs, but we didn't mind at all. As we sailed back towards the harbour, the crew provided a lot of information about the buildings and places of interest we could see on land. -
What a wonderful experience and the crew were very well informed. On the day the sun was out and we saw a family of pilot whales, several spouts and tails of sperm whales and fly fish. It was a wonderful experience.

I was sea sick from about 15 minutes in, so I cannot comment on the tour per se, but the crew were very sympathetic to my condition, even though they didn't turn back when I asked! There were a few other people in the same boat and they seem to have enjoyed it. I was told there were loads of dolphins.

Beware of this trip as no warning given that it was rough out to sea and that when conditions are like this that it was very unlikely that any sightings would be made.
Nearly half of the people on board were physically sick and while I and my wife were not sick we felt unwell. Warning should have been made before sailing but of course the company did not want to do that.
One plus however is that the staff were good on the boat and did help the sick passengers. -
Wed done this trip before and knew that the catamaran was comfortable, especially on the lingers on the front deck. The crew were still friendly and efficient but we felt that not as much commentary was given as before , but that may have been because most of the other passengers were foreign and understood only a little English. The catamaran is smaller than the others that sail from this marina and I like that. It does not feel impersonal.
The only reason I am not giving five stars is that we saw no wildlife, and although that was not the crews fault, it did not make for the perfect trip. -
This was a good trip. There is an opportunity to sit on the mesh at the front of td catamaran to get a better view. Drinks available to buy on board.

The trip itself was pleasant enough and we saw plenty of common dolphins. However, Viator gave us the wrong start time - it's a good job that we checked with the local company beforehand.

Good trip. Got to see some bottle noise dolphins. It was about an hour shorter than the summer trip. Everything was nice. Overall it was a good trip.
