Day 1: Trek to Soyroqocha
Your 5-day adventure begins with pickup from your centrally located hotel in Cusco at 5am. You will board a vehicle and head to meet your guide and the support staff, who will get everything ready to start the trek. They will load the equipment onto horses and give a brief introduction. Then, at around 9am, we will head to Soraypampa, the starting point of the trek.
After everything is set, it is time to start the trek heading towards Soyroqocha. During this trek, admire breathtaking views of the “invincible” and majestic Salkantay and other snow-capped mountain peaks. At noon, we will enjoy lunch and continue hiking for 3 more hours until we reach our camp in Soyroqocha, a beautiful small lake in the mountains. The tents and a delicious dinner will be ready once we arrive there to round off an amazing first day on the Salkantay Trek.
Day 2: Mount Salkantay and Downhill Trek
We will wake up early in the morning with incredible views of the gleaming snow-covered Salkantay Mountain. After a nutritious and filling breakfast, it is time to start the trek towards the Salkantay Pass. Passing by amazing views of the peaks of Mount Salkantay and Mount Umantay, we will hike down to Qollpapampa, located at 3,100 meters above sea level (10,170 feet), where we will camp for the night.
Day 3: Jungle Hike
This is a much easier day as we will take on a hike of the calm cloud forest. The hike will be around 5 hours in which we'll follow the stream of Lluskamayo and may be able to see orchids, various bird species, and magnificent waterfalls along the way. We will end the hike at La Playa town, located at 2,050 meters above sea level (6,725 feet), where we will stop for lunch. Afterwards, you will have the afternoon to relax, swim in the river, take a shower or enjoy a cold beer.
Day 4: Llaqtapata Inca Ruins and First Sight of Machu Picchu
We will wake up in the morning and, after breaksfast, start a trek to LLaqtapata Inca ruins. Here, we will have the first sighting of the most spectacular ancient city of the world, Machu Picchu. Your knowledgeable guide will tell you all about the history and culture of the Incas and this ancient wonder. Later, you will board a train from Hydroelectric to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night at a 2-star hostel (included).
Day 5: Machu Picchu
Your final day starts early in the morning with pickup from your hostel in Aguas Calientes. You will be taken to the bus station for a 30-minute drive to Machu Picchu. Once you get there, you will have a wonderful 3-hour of the most important sites in the citadel. After spending the day in Machu Picchu, you will board the bus again which will take you back to Aguas Calientes. From there, you will head to Cusco on a train and then be transported back to your hotel, to end a memorable 5-day experience.行程概要出發地點
