After hotel pickup, head with your guide about 22 miles (35 km) north of Chiclayo to the P□mac Forest Historical Sanctuary (Santuario Hist□rico Bosque de P□mac), an area of protected algarrobo trees that cover the grounds of Batan Grande, an old sugar cane farm where the Sic□n archeological ruins are located.
You have about 1.5 hours here to explore with your guide. Admire the dozens of ancient pyramids built by the Sic□n people, who inhabited this region from around 750 to 1300 AD, after the Moche people. Learn about the amazing discovery in 1992 of an ancient tomb that held an important member of Sic□n society. Inside the tomb, archeologists found an enormous amount of masks, crowns, bracelets, weapons, armor and other precious metals and jewelry, most of which now resides at the National Museum of Sic□n, your next stop.
When you arrive at the museum in the town of Ferre afe, take a 1.5-hour tour with your guide. Learn about Sic□n life and culture as you examine artifacts like feathered funeral masks, textiles, pottery, gold and silver items, and other valuable objects found in the Batan Grande tomb. Plus, admire a replica of the tomb, and learn about the excavation process through the museum’s detailed displays.

This was my first visit to Peru and the tours that I had set up while visiting friends were fantastic. Our Guide for the Batan Grande Tour was extremely knowledgeable and very Friendly. I suggest if you do take this tour you ask for Rosario, she was the best. Her years of experience made the tour extremely interesting while walking through dried out river beds and scant forest areas. December was the pre-summer months with little tourists around and the weather was beautiful summer in Peru compared to the Frigid temps in NYC. Rosario helped all along the tour always asking if we had any questions. My girlfriend and I had many stories to tell after the tour and both agreed that we would take the tour again only if Rosario was the Guide.

This tour was great. Batan Grande is amazing as is the Sican museum.

Overall very good. Couldn't see one of the archaelogical sites because the river had too much water to allow passage. Our tour guide was excellent - knowledeable, English very good, always on time for pick up at hotel.
