The hike was great, challenging but rewarding. Our guide Mustafa looked after us and took safely up the mountain and back. Make sure you pack warm clothes as it was below zero at the top and strong winds end May. All in all a definite 5 stars and a hard to forget experience.

This was an absolutely incredible experience. I would recommend this to any amateur hikers who want a little bit of a challenge. We climbed in early april and while there was still snow at the top and needed to dress warm for the peak, it was beautiful weather and would actually prefer this time of year rather than the hot summer time. Here are some of our recommendations:

    1. There is no email or contact info for the tour once booked through Viator. We tried calling the number provided to re-confirm the tour the day before when we arrived in Marrakech but the number did not work. Also the company name is not Targa Travel and Trekkkinmorocco. This company does not exist. So we were very concerned that we had paid for something that was not real/was not going to happen. We made a back up plan. BUT, the morning of, our driver came right on time to pick us up at our Riad and the rest of the trip was very smooth! we are so happy we went with it, no regrets!
    2. Definitely need warm clothes for the winter time October to May as there is still snow at the peak. We brought hiking boots, hats, gloves, neck warmers, a puffy jacket with many layers under to take off over time. The first day was warm as you are climbing. It is cold on Day when you wake up at 5am in the dark to climb the peak and the wind is very chilly. However, once the sun comes up over the mountain around 8am it was warm again. We rented crampons and sticks for the climb for very cheap in Imlil with our guide since we did not want to bring this in our luggage from the US.
    3. The refuge where we sleep is very busy and loud. We did not get much sleep at all, but this may just be that we were unlucky. They have blankets for you or you can bring your own sleeping bag. It does keep you very warm at night which was very well appreciated.
    4. The food was incredible! There are shops along the hike for fresh orange juice, water, snacks to buy for very cheap. even at the very top! So you do not need to hike up with all the water snacks you will need.
    5. The guides were very fun and go at your pace, makes sure you are going slowly enough not to get sick, etc. They took very good care of us

All in all we have the best experience! It was a hard hike but totally worth it for the beautiful views, the people, the culture. It is so peaceful up there!

This was a very challenging 2 day trek. The first day required several hours of trekking to the refuge, then another several arduous hours of trekking to the summit on day 2, which can get difficult because of the altitude don't forget the several hours of descent. Our guide, Said, was experienced, enthusiastic, and accommodating. He is a local to the mountains so he knew how to guide us with ease and confidence. Whenever we felt tired or unsafe, he made sure to slow down or rest and was patient with our recovery. Hassan was our muleteer and cook for the 2 days, and he did a great job providing tasty and nutritious meals. All in all, this was an unforgettable experience.

This is a brilliant 2-day hike. We were picked up from our Riad in the Medina without issue and driven to the start of the trek with a few stop-off sightseeing visits on route. At Imlil we met our guide Hassan, who was brilliant. He took good care of us throughout the 2 days and was friendly and helpful.

The views on the hike are amazing and well worth the effort but, be warned it is a real effort! The itinerary does not do the hike justice. The first day is easily 5-7 hours of walking at a decent pace, with the second being more like 9 if you hit the summit. This is roughly 12KM base camp and 4KM summit each way.

The terrain is pretty rough, so hiking boots are a must. Walking poles advised. You should also bring sleeping bags or at least liners in the summer, plenty of water expensive to buy on route, though available and snacks. The food at the base camp is good, but some sugar and snacks are advisable for the journey. You should also bring essentials like loo roll, meds and a torch for the base camp stay. You will need some cash for tips and the many stop-shops on route.

We travelled in June, which was pretty quiet and peaceful.

This tour was incredibly well done. The excursion company conducted themselves in a welcoming, kind, and professional manner. The hike was quite exhausting but completely worth it. Our guide ensured we had all the equipment necessary for our hike. If you are going to book an excursion to Mount Toubkal this is the one!
