After hotel pickup, your guide takes you to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Mexico City. When you arrive, head with your guide straight past the lines of people waiting to purchase tickets, a queue that can last up to an hour during busy periods — not a place you want to linger during Mexico City’s hot and humid days.
Step inside Ripley’s, where your guide explains the layout of the three attractions: the main exhibits inside a medieval castle, the wax museum and the Fantastic Voyage moving theater. With your combo skip-the-line entry, you can enjoy access to these sites at a price much lower than if you visited each attraction separately. You also have the flexibility to explore at your own pace: your guide will designate a meeting point and time to regroup at the end of the tour so you can walk around at your leisure.
Learn about how exhibition founder Robert Ripley coined the expression ‘believe it or not.’ An eccentric and fearless explorer, he collected artifacts from his trips around the world and created Ripley’s Believe It or Not! to satisfy people’s basic curiosities about the challenging and unusual — the types of things you had to see to believe.
Do just that as you wander through the 14 rooms of the medieval castle that contain more than 200 rarities on display. Feel off-kilter upon seeing a prehistoric whale skeleton suspended above your head, and move onward to discover other oddities: a replica of the Mona Lisa made with toast, a man born with horns, gargoyles, African shrunken heads, the thinnest and tallest persons in the world and a Gothic cathedral constructed out of sugar cubes. You can even attempt to bring on personal wealth by touching a Chinese jade coin weighing more than 500 pounds (227 kg).
In the wax museum, scrutinize replicas of your favorite celebrities, and marvel at how the wax artists so skillfully captured their essences. More than 230 characters strike poses here, including Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Steve Jobs, Brad Pitt, Mexican wrestling legend El Santo and TV sitcom star Chavo del Ocho.
Continue your full Ripley’s experience with a visit to the moving theater with a 4D simulator. While wearing 3D glasses, lean, sway and feel wind rushing around you, creating the illusion that you are indeed taking ‘a Fantastic Voyage.’
