Pass By: Isla Contoy
Depart from the Marina in search for the whale shark reserve in the Caribbean sea. Once we found them, you will have the unique opportunity to snorkel with the biggest fish in the world.
Stop At: Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres
Lunch time on the boat just off the coast of Isla Mujeres.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: V&V Marina
Back to the marina, to go back at your hotel.

We had very very rough waters and for that reason I absolutely recommend you take up the guide's advice of taking dramamine first as half of our boat did not and got very sick on the wait out to sea. Other than that, the experience itself is one of a kind, we were able to swim twice with relatively good visibility of the whale sharks and many many manta rays. The water was on the darker side that day so visibility wasn't as great as we had hoped, but it didn't take away from the once in a lifetime experience.

Do yourself a favor and book this trip immediately! The staff (especially our tour guide, Lara) were absolutely fantastic - knowledgable, friendly, customer service oriented, and more). If you are a strong swimmer, definitely opt for the wet suit (so you don't need to use a life jacket) which will allow you to dive in and go under the whale shark. If you don't have a camera, get one! You won't regret it. The photos and video I took are magnificent - just like the picture above. I can't recommend this tour enough.

Brilliant experience and something you should definitely try and do whilst in Mexico. They warned me in the days before the conditions might not be ideal and offered alternative days but we decided to stick with it. It was a bumpy ride out due to the weather, so ensure you take seasickness tablets, but this made it even more rewarding to reach the area and get in the water with the whale sharks. It is worth taking or renting a GoPro to get footage of the swim. I proposed to my girlfriend after we had done the swimming and the guides were amazing, providing us with some extra bits when we stopped for lunch to make the day even more special.

WOW!! Amazing experience, Marcella, Oscar, and Oscar junior were incredible. There was a communication glitch with the pick up time, and getting someone to answer at Viator (where I booked the trip) was difficult; but, once I was with Eco Tours everything was exceptional.

Bucket list checked! This was an experience I will never forget! I wished we could spend more time in the water with the whale sharks but understand the time limit to reduce our disturbance to them. I highly recommend doing this - magnificent creatures!!

My wife and I had Ana amazing time. The small groups were nice. They ran out of Etsy it’s so I was forced to use a life jacket which was a bummer as I am a good swimmer and was not able to dive lower like my wife did. If I had a wet suit they would have gotten a 5 star.

This tour was amazing but not because of the staff because we lucked out with the number of whale sharks. The staff did there job, made sure we got to see the whale sharks, and fed us. As far as personality and adding fun to the adventure, it just wasnt there. The boat ride out was incredibly bumpy so be warned if you have a bad back or some sort of joint pain its going to hurt! Once we got out there it was incredibly fast pace to make sure we got to get in and see them. Afterwards, we were taken to Isles Mujeres for lunch. First, we got to get in the water and swim over to a little cove FULL of fish. It was a lot of fun to see the different little fish. Then we returned to the boat for food. When reading online about the different tours, I saw most mentioned serving ceviche. I hate fish, so I picked this tour since it said you got a Mexican meal, which turned out to be ceviche. They gave us the option of a salad at the start of the tour. My husband and I took that option. Unfortunately, the group we rode to the marina with and the group we rode on the boat with were different and our salads didnt make it. Luckily, they had chicken sandwiches on the boat. Another tourist gave me her salad the only one on the boat and my husband had a sandwich. We were just thankful there was something since neither of us like fish. We got to eat in the crystal clear water which was awesome! The reason I loved this tour was because of the mass quantity of whale sharks! Without them it would have been terrible.

This was a wonderful experience for our family. We got to see the whale sharks up close, the crew members were helpful and supportive, Isle Mujeres beautiful and lunch of guacamole and ceviche delicious. We highly recommend this tour.
