After pickup from a central meeting point in Cancun's hotel zone, head to Cirque du Soleil’s theater, located in the Riviera Maya tropical forest north of Playa del Carmen. Enter the custom-built semi-amphitheater with a thatched roof, exclusively built for JOY , opening in November 2014, the first permanent Cirque show outside of the US.
The different seating packages are outlined in the Itinerary below. If you opted for seating with dinner, please note the dinner service begins an hour before the performance.
As the lights dim, settle in and prepare to lose yourself in a surreal wonderland that only Cirque du Soleil can bring. Inspired by the migratory journey of the monarch butterfly in which life is passed from one generation to the next, JOY reveals a world inhabited by entrancing characters who work hand in hand to perpetuate the love of life. Follow the adventures of rebellious teenage girl Joy□, who is whisked away to a mysterious jungle by her alchemist grandfather. They uncover a hidden gem in the mangroves, after which Joy□ must face a series of outlandish challenges that her mischievous grandfather has secretly set out for her in his fantastical world.
After the 75-minute show ends, blink your eyes back into reality and then enjoy return transport to Cancun.

Discovering that there is Cirque du Soleil show the Mayan Riviera was a welcome surprise. Upon arriving at the the Joya Theatre grounds, we immediately began to begin the experience of the Joya theme and journey. The journey from the entrance, through the calming and picturesque vegetated grounds, and culminating at the unique, charming jungle themed theatre helped to build the excitement and intrigue to the best Cirque experience that we have had. The culinary creations that incorporated mayan cuisine were delectable. Capping the dinner were four exquisite desserts delivered in the book of life. The ensemble of musicians and entertainers during dinner was perfect accompaniment and prelude the magnificent show JOYA. Not to diminish the magnificent Cirque productions we have experience and JOYA rates at the top. My wife and I cannot wait to return to experience this exceptional show once again.

One of the highlights of our visit to Mexico. Did not receive a confirmation, and was a bit confused about when and where to meet the bus. A bit more clarity about directions would have been helpful. Overall a very enjoyable experience, would recommend to all.

We took the Joya shuttle from Playa del Carmen to the Maya Resort, so we were on time at arrival. We went directly to will call for our tickets. We were the first in line for the champagne dinner show. WE WERE NOT LATE! They appeared to be having computer issues. after several minutes, we were asked to step over to the side along with others behind us. After close to 30 minutes, they decided to escort the whole group over to the show. We then were broken into 3 groups show only, dinner show, and champagne dinner show. The show only group was escorted in. The rest waited. By this time, I did question someone about being late for the show or dinner. I was told not to worry! Finally, the girl came back for the rest of us. She had us return to the will call window. Mind you, this is all a very long walk. We return. Back in line. I'm now not first in line, so I move over to another window, which was smart. They were still having difficulties, as they were having to deal with some other office on cell phones. We finally got tickets. I questioned her about us now being late. She actually escorted us back over which was nice. After we were seated at our table, the show was about to begin. The head waiter came to inform us that because we were late, we could not be served. His wait staff were about to leave. We needed to be on time. This is when I had to read him the riot act. That WE WERE ON TIME! THAT WE WERE LATE BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS AT WILL CALL. THAT WE PAID FOR AND WILL GET OUR FULL DINNER, AND I DID NOT CARE WHO THEY FOUND TO SERVE US. The show was excellent, although it would have been better if we could have seen it without having to eat in the dark at the same time. There was never any apologies from the JOYA staff for their technical difficulties. I am not sure what caused this problem, but at this time I would advise people not to go until further notice.

This was absolutely fabulous, The Dinner was amazing, we got to change the Champange for wine as we are not big champagne drinkers. The show was amazing, we loved every minute of it.

This was incredible. Really recommend the VIP experience. The food was amazing, presented beautifully. We were sat towards the front so had a really good view of the show. Excellent experience.

It was incredible!!!! From the facilities to the performance everything was top notch. The only thing i regret is not doing the dinner. My hat goes off to the staff they above and beyond. If you are thinking about it no need just do it.
