After meeting at a local subway station nearby your host's home, you will walk together to the host's clean, modern apartment with views overlooking the city. In the kitchen, finish preparing some favorite Japanese home recipes before sharing your home-cooked Japanese meal. Your menu might include dishes like steaming homemade miso soup, aji fish namban-zuke (fried fish with vegetables in a vinegar based sauce), kara age (Satomi’s baked version of the traditional Japanese fried chicken), and one of the host’s favorite dishes, Japanese-style beef patties with onions and gravy. For dessert you might enjoy green tea sticky rice accompanied with Japanese tea. After dinner if you choose, the host can take you for a walk to the nearby Harumi Ship Terminal with evening-lit views of the city, including the Tokyo Tower and Rainbow bridge and ships going in to the canal.
Your host is a young woman working in global sales for a large IT consulting company who loves to entertain. As a sales person and business woman, the host is well-versed in English and in travel; it was an experience traveling to India for work that led to her interest in hosting travelers to share her culture, cuisine, and Tokyo advice. The host grew up in Kyoto; her father was a wonderful cook, making traditional dishes like kasujiru (a traditional Kyoto soup with a base of sake) and kinpira (burdock root and carrot cooked in sugar and soy sauce). Now that she has moved to Tokyo and lives on her own, she has re-discovered a love of cooking, taking classes at a popular Tokyo cooking school on everything from traditional Japanese dishes to baking.行程概要出發地點
