Your 3-day tour puts the spotlight on Takayama, Shirakawago and Kanazawa, three historical Japanese cities considered by the guidebooks to be must-visit destinations. Each is famous in its own right: Takayama for its impeccably preserved Old Town, Shirakawago for its unique farmhouses and Kanazawa for its cultural heritage, from pottery making to samurai history. With a professional guide, enjoy tours to top attractions in each city, and enjoy leisure time in the evenings. No meals are included, giving you the flexibility to eat what you want and where you please. Your guide will factor in free time each day for meals, and offer recommendations for good places.Your one-way sightseeing adventure starts in Kyoto, from where you'll travel by train, local bus, taxi and coach between destinations before ending the tour in Tokyo. Your train travel is done independently, but tour guides and assistants accompany you to the station, help you during transfers and meet you on the other end.行程概要出發地點

Day 1: Kyoto TakayamaAfter pickup in Kyoto, travel with a tour assistant to the city station to board your high-speed bullet train east. After roughly 50 minutes on board (the train ride is on your own, without a guide), arrive in Nagoya, where another assistant will help you transfer to an express train to Takayama, a small, ancient city known to many as ‘Little Kyoto.’ Meet your tour guide at the end of your train ride.During the Edo period (1600s through to mid-1800s), the city thrived and was known for its population of skilled carpenters and wealthy merchants. As such, Takayama has a bounty of well-preserved wooden houses, inns, temples and shrines that date back to those times; today, it’s an impressive collection of sights for a city so small.Exploring with your guide, admire the traditional houses of Kami Sannomachi, and visit the Yatai Kaikan hall to see its collection of vividly colored festival floats. Kusakabe Folk Museum is also included on the tour, so head inside to admire its array of folk art housed within a striking old merchant’s building. After your tour, check into your Takayama hotel and spend your evening at leisure.Overnight: Hida Hotel Plaza in Takayama (both standard and deluxe options)Day 2: Takayama Shirakawago KanazawaMeet your guide to start your day with a tour of Takayama’s famous morning market, one of the largest in Japan. Split across two sites, the market is home to shops and stalls that sell just about everything, from sarubobo doll souvenirs to pickles, spices, fruit and more. While you learn about the history of the market's role in town, browse for keepsakes to take home.In the late morning, hop aboard a local bus and travel north to Shirakawago, tucked away in the Shogawa River Valley. Like Takayama, Shirakawago is famous for its architectural heritage, but its houses are somewhat different. As you travel, learn about Shirakawago’s gassho-zukuri homes — beautifully preserved wooden farmhouses with steeply arched thatched roofs, said to represent the hands of Buddhist monks in prayer.Your first stop in town is its largest gassho-zukuri, the Wada family residence (or Wada-Ke House), where you can see how home life was for one of the area’s wealthiest families. Then, explore Shirakawago’s UNESCO-listed folk village to see more modestly sized, but still intriguing, homes. From Shirakawago, take a local bus to Kanazawa Station, and then a taxi to your hotel.Overnight: Kanazawa New Grand Hotel (standard option) or Hotel Nikko Kanazawa (deluxe option) in KanazawaDay 3: Kanazawa TokyoWith an array of cultural attractions, Kanazawa has a lot to keep you busy! Start with a tour of Kenroku-en Garden, one of the so-called ‘great gardens of Japan.’ The landscaped grounds, which date back to the Edo period, are sprawled in front of Kanazawa Castle, so have your camera ready to capture the stately backdrop.Continue to Kutaniyaki Pottery Kiln to see the process of producing handmade pottery, and then visit the restored samurai residence of Nomura-Ke in the city’s historic Nagamachi area. Offering a glimpse into the life of a rich samurai, the home-turned-museum is full of sights: authentic armor, Edo architecture and a small, beautiful garden.Next, take advantage of a little free time to stock up on souvenirs at the Omicho market, and then head to Nagoya station to board the bullet train (Shinkansen) for the journey southeast to Tokyo. Your 3-day tour ends with drop-off at select Tokyo hotels in the evening.飯店接送
