Your overnight stay starts when you check in at the Hirashin Ryokan, a traditional-style Japanese hotel located a short walk from the subway and just two stops from the JR Kyoto station.
Japan's ryokans are typically located near natural hot springs known as onsens, and at Hirashin Ryokan, you can experience an onsen-style Japanese communal bath without leaving the hotel. The large bath is the perfect place to soothe any aches you may feel from a long flight — just step into the hot water, and soak away your stress. Bathing in the nude is the tradition in Japanese communal baths, so don't wear a swimsuit. There are separate baths for men and women, and towels are provided in your room. While the Hirashin Ryokan onsen is not a natural hot spring, it still offers the same traditional onsen experience.
Ryokans are known for warm hospitality, top-notch service, authentic food and rooms designed in typical Japanese style with minimal furnishings and floors lined by tatami mats. At the Hirashin Ryokan, rooms come with private baths, a feature not available at most ryokans. The beds consist of comfortable futons that are laid out on the floor by the staff in the evening. During the day, the futons are stored away and replaced by a low table with cushioned seats.

This ryokan is located near many attractions. Breakfast option:
Enjoy accommodation and a traditional obanzai breakfast. Obanzai is a style of Kyoto cuisine inspired by home cooking, consisting of several small healthy dishes made from simply prepared seasonal ingredients. This breakfast includes a combination of rice, soup, vegetables, tofu, egg, and fish and/or meat, artfully presented and accompanied by delicious seasonings.
Breakfast and kaiseki dinner option:
Includes accommodation and breakfast as above, plus a kaiseki dinner. Kaiseki is akin to ‘haute cuisine’ with a multicourse dinner that changes with the seasons. The highly trained chef strikes a balance between the flavor, texture and appearance of each ingredient to create a sublime meal that features fresh local products. The courses are beautifully presented and often decorated with creative flourishes. Dishes typically include an appetizer and sashimi course in addition to simmered, grilled and steamed courses, accompanied by soup, rice and seasonings such as soy sauce, fish stock and mirin (a sweet sake used for cooking). After a variety of main dishes, the meal ends with a light dessert.
Breakfast and hot pot dinner option:
Includes accommodation and breakfast as above, plus a hot pot dinner. You can choose either sukiyaki or shabu-shabu — both are popular hot pot dishes made with thin slices of beef (vegetarian option available) and vegetables cooked at your table. To make sukiyaki, the beef and vegetables are slowly simmered in a shallow skillet with a savory sauce. For shabu-shabu, the thinly sliced beef cooks quickly on your table in a pot that contains a savory soup broth along with vegetables such as mushrooms, carrots, onions, nori (seaweed) and udon noodles.
