First, you meet your guide at Vasco Da Gama Square in Fort Kochi at 9:00am for a small briefing. Then you will visit St. Francis Church which was built by Portuguese traders in 1503. Afterwards walk to the Dutch Cemetery that houses the tomb stones of hundreds Europeans who left their homeland for India and changed this land's historic course. Travel to Jewish Synagogue or Paradesi Synagogue, one of seven synagogues active in Kochi.
Your next stop will be Mattancherry Palace, also called the Dutch Palace, which is well known for its architecture and mural paintings. From there you move towards the exciting spice market located at Jew Town. The streets are full of shops selling antique artifacts in addition to garments, spices, herbal concoctions and various knacks. Cross the water by Jankar (a water transport) to reach Vypin Island and the city of Kodungallur. You will be provided with Kerala style lunch.
Later you will visit Cheuman Perumal Mosque, the very first mosque in India, built during Prophet Mohammad's live. From there you will enter the courtyard of the Kodungallur Bhagavathi Temple, a well-known goddess for her chants. Kodungallur is also believed to be the place where St. Thomas, the Apostle of Jesus, visited first and founded seven churches.
Proceed to Pallipuram where the basilica of Our Lady of Snows is located. According to the legend, when the army of Tipu Sultan of Mysore came to invade Pallipuram in the 18th century, a cloud of mist descended on the church and its premises cover it. It is believed to a miraculous intervention of the Holy Mother. After a small tea break you will watch the sunset at the serene blue waters of Kuzhupilly Beach and then return to Fort Kochi to end the evening with traditional dance-drama, Kathakali.
