Put on your yoga pants and get ready to understand the logic of ancient yogic science. Your yoga trainer will reach your hotel at 6am and introduce you to various practices of yoga. Start with warm up exercises and advance to complex asanas and chakras, as your trainer explains you the medical significance of the different postures. This one hour morning yoga session will fill your mind and body with extreme energy and exuberance.
Post breakfast, at 10am get picked from your hotel, meet your local guide and drive to the city of extraordinary imagination, Khajuraho. The temple city was built by the Chandela Kingdom between 950 and 1050ce, the dynasty that is widely believed to be descendants of the moon. Adorned with classical sculptures showcasing erotic poses in unusual yet alluring fashion, proceed to the city’s most astonishing temples.
Explore with your guide the eastern and western group of temples, famous for their Nagar style architecture and symbolized as an erotic dream from someone’s imagination. Dedicated to various Hindu gods and goddesses, the group of seductress temples has been recognized internationally and the site has been awarded World Heritage status. Learn from the guide about Chandelas and their unique style that separated them from any other ruler dynasty in the world. Have lunch at a local restaurant and proceed to a nearby village.
Get a glimpse of rural lifestyle of Khajuraho and understand the village culture flourishing near the temples. Learn from your guide about the simple villagers and engage in conversation with the local people. After an hour, proceed to witness Kandariya dance show, a unique art and dance form prevalent in Khajuraho. Performed by maestros and talented classical dancers, the show is a tribute to Hindu gods and goddesses and a celebration of richness of Indian classical dance style. The dance show runs from October and continues till the month of March. The show portrays the life and times of great Chandela kings and traces the story of unique temples from the 10th century to the present day.
