In the morning, meet your guide in Marienplatz, Munich’s pretty central square. Set off by bike to uncover the darker side of the city and its role in the rise of and resistance against the Nazi Party. Cycle along an easy 5-mile route, stopping at important sites to hear more about their connections to the Third Reich.See the old head office of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP), an earlier name for Hitler’s growing political party. Ride past Hofbrauhaus beer hall, where Hitler gave a public speech about the goals of the fledgling Nazi Party to a small audience in 1921. Stop frequently to listen to your guide explain the significance of various buildings and locations.Cycle by sights associated with brutal Nazi acts including the Feldherrnhalle on the famous Odeonsplatz square, the site of a deadly clash between the Bavarian troops and the Nazis in 1923 following an attempted overthrow of the local Weimar government by Hitler’s men. During the tour, you’ll also see a poignant memorial dedicated to those who died at the hands of the Nazis and the Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism, which opened on the site of the former Brown House, the Nazi Party headquarters.Stop for a 45-minute break in a traditional beer garden and refuel with food and a refreshing drink (own expense). Chris, our Aussie guide, was awesome. He knew his history, informed us well. He was enthusiastic and managed to keep the tour very upbeat and fun, despite the seriousness of it. It's worth noting that we saw much of Munich on this tour, including everything on the Top Ten Things To Do In Munich lists found online. This tour covered resistance fighters/sights as well. It is worth noting that the company that runs these bike tours is run very well and efficiently. They were professional yet fun, and punctual! We went on three tours in Paris that were twice the price that didn't compare to this tour. The Third Reich Bike tour is perfect for anyone looking to see historical sights of all kinds while in Munich, and I will absolutely recommend family and friends to take it.

Will and Chris were fantastic tour guides through the streets of Munich. We learned more from this tour than any history class. It is uncanny and unnerving to walk in the plazas and see buildings that Hitler inhabited. We will be booking through the bike company again for sure!
One recommendation: make sure that future participants sign and swear they understand 1 they are on a BIKE tour 2 that they know how to RIDE a bike and 3 understand international driving signs and signals green means go, red means stop.
