Check out the best of the Munich’s big-name sights, including its many beautiful churches and the famous Hofbr uhaus beer hall. Stop in Marienplatz, the city’s central square, and view the towering Gothic New Town Hall and the whimsical Glockenspiel. Take pictures of the iconic Frauenkirche cathedral, whose striking onion-shaped domes appear on many Munich postcards. Then wander around St Peter’s Church, the oldest church in the city dating back to the 12th century.
Many of these landmarks were all but destroyed during World War II, only to be saved by the extensive reconstruction that followed. As the birthplace and headquarters of the Nazi party, Munich had a strong Nazi presence in the years leading up to and during World War II. Explore the sites associated with the rise of the Third Reich such as where the Gestapo headquarters once stood and the place where the Beer Hall Putsch, an attempted coup by Hitler and his followers, took place in 1923.

this tour was amazing and surpassed our expectations. Our guide was the best! He was from Ireland and so very pleasant. He was not only incredibly courteous but very information and knew his history of Munich. We invited him to have lunch with us and his presence added richness to our private tour for 8 seniors on our first time in Munich. Bravisimo!!!!!!!! I cannot remember his name but he is from Ireland and so informative. HE is a keeper for sure!! Thank you.

Our tour guide was suppose to meet us at 2:00pm. No one showed up. I called the tour company and they sent another guide at 4:30. (2 1/2 hours late). By that time, most all the church's were closed, therefore we missed a lot that was promised on the tour.

Loved this tour! Our guide was very informative on the history of the city. The private tour is well worth the extra money. We will definitely use Viator again.

This was definitely a highlight of my trip to Munich. My tour was with Ian and his adorable dog, Bernard!. Ian was very knowledgable on the local history and as this was a private tour, it was like having a chat with someone, rather than just listening to someone ramble on. It was only a two hour tour, however, we covered a lot of the city.
