Departing Frankfurt in a comfortable coach, your five-day independent tour to Munich starts with a drive through the Spessart Mountains passing the town of W□rzburg, before continuing along the Romantic Road to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Explore Rothenburg famous for its medieval old town and town wall on a guided city walk to see the city’s top attractions, including the Church of St Jacob, which houses an altar by the famous woodcarver Tilmann Riemenschneider.
Spend days two, three and four admiring the picturesque landscapes and passing the charming towns along the Romantic Road. Explore the university town of Augsburg, where you’ll enjoy a guided city tour and learn about Augsburg’s role as the residence of the Fuggers, a famous trading family in the 14th and 15th centuries. Enjoy free time in Munich to explore on your own, and then head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen by train to see the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze. Take the cable car to the top of the 9,718-foot (2,962-meter) peak, and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views.

Day 1 - Frankfurt to Rothenburg
Departing Frankfurt, you’ll head through the picturesque Spessart Mountains to W□rzburg, a vibrant city on the banks of the River Main. Continue to Rothenburg ob der Tauber where you’ll be met by a taxi to be transferred to your hotel.
Then join a Rothenburg city walk (included) with a Night Watchman of Rothenburg (or a local guide) to see the top Rothenburg attractions, including the medieval old town, the town wall that has encircled the city since the 14th century and the Church of St Jacob, which treasures an altar by the famous wood-sculptor Tilmann Riemenschneider.
Overnight accommodation: Hotel Spitzweg (or similar). You will have free time for lunch and dinner
Day 2 - Rothenburg to Augsburg (Breakfast included)
After breakfast at your hotel, take a taxi transfer to the bus stop where you'll board the coach to continue your trip along the Romantic Road. After departing Rothenburg, you'll pass Dinkelsb□hl and N rdlingen -- picturesque towns full of cobbled-stone streets and medieval buildings -- before arriving in Augsburg in the early afternoon. The rest of the day is yours to explore Augsburg, a well-known university town, independently.
Overnight accommodation: InterCity Hotel (or similar). You will have free time for lunch and dinner
Day 3 - Augsburg to Munich (Breakfast included)
After breakfast, start the third day of your trip with a guided city tour (included) of Augsburg that departs from City Hall (Rathaus). See top Augsburg attractions, including the Augsburg Cathedral and the Fuggerei, named after an old trading family, the Fuggers, who made Augsburg their banking empire in the 14th and 15th centuries.
In the afternoon, board the coach for the drive to Munich, where you'll have the rest of the day to explore Bavaria's capital at your leisure.

Day 4 - Munich and Zugspitze (Breakfast included)
In the morning, enjoy breakfast and then board the train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Upon arrival in this charming town, take the cable car up to the highest peak in Germany. As you stand on top of the Zugspitze at 9,718 feet (2,962 meters), you’ll enjoy majestic views of the picture-perfect scenery. On a clear day, see up to 400 mountain peaks in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, including the Dolomite Mountains and the Swiss Alps. Enjoy a bite of German food (own expense) in one of the restaurants on the glacier before you head down.
Return to Munich by train in the afternoon.

Day 5 - Munich (Breakfast included)
