Day One: Royal Castle Tour from Frankfurt to Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace (14 Hours)Leave central Frankfurt by coach in the morning and relax on the journey south to southern Bavaria. After roughly 4.5 hours, arrive at the glorious Neuschwanstein Castle, a showy fairy-tale structure set on a rugged forested hill.Bypass the ticket lines and enter the castle directly for your walking tour. As you admire the elaborate interior, learn about the shy and eccentric King Ludwig II, who had this fantasy palace built, but died before it was finished. After the tour, stroll around the gardens soaking up views of the lush wooded slopes and rocky peaks.Continue by coach to Linderhof Palace, roughly an hour away. This is the smallest of King Ludwig II’s three palaces and the only one he lived to see completed. Take a walking tour to learn about the Bavarian castle’s history and magnificent architecture. Outside, explore the beautiful ornamental gardens, reminiscent of Versailles Gardens.Then, hop back on the coach and relax on your journey back to Frankfurt. You next tour starts the following morning from central Frankfurt.Day Two: Guided Rothenburg Day Trip from Frankfurt (9 Hours)Settle into a seat in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach and head south from Frankfurt to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Located high above the Tauber River Valley on the famous Romantic Road, Rothenburg is widely considered the best-preserved medieval town in Germany.Travel back in time as you explore Rothenburg’s winding cobbled lanes, seeing picturesque half-timbered houses, the marketplace and the Renaissance-era Town Hall ─ all encircled by impressively intact city walls. As you walk, admire places of interest pointed out by your guide, and gain insight into Rothenberg's remarkable history.
