Join a culinary sojourn through the Schillerkiez in Neukölln, one of Berlin’s most exciting and talked about neighbourhoods. Get to know the Berlin that only locals see, and see how German food has improved in recent years. It’s not all Sauerkraut and Schweinshaxe, you know?
You’ll meet your guide at a central location in Berlin and kick off the tour with a welcome drink from the world’s oldest still existing brewery. After that your guide will take on the U-Bahn, Berlin’s subway, and head down to Neukölln. You’ll be able to buy train passes either from the guide, or when you head to the station, so it’s ok if you show up without one.
When you arrive you’ll take a little stroll through one of Berlin’s most rapidly changing neighbourhoods, including a look into the Tempelhofer Feld, a former airfield used by the Nazis in the 1930s, and the Western Allies during the Berlin Airlift.
Then begins your three-course meal served at three different restaurants. Learn how the food scene in Berlin has welcomed the international flair of the city. You’ll eat high quality, well presented food. Portion sizes are decent, but don’t worry, you’ll still have enough room when it comes round to dessert.
Included in your three-course dinner:
- An elegant German craft beer aperitif from the world's oldest still existing brewery
- A hearty appetizer and a small beer or wine
- A modern interpretation of a typical German main course and a small beer or wine
- Dessert: A sweet surprise with coffee or tea
Over dinner and between courses your guide will tell you about everyday life in Berlin, explain what makes the Schillerkiez so special, as well as the challenges such rapid change is bringing to the city.
