Meet your guide at the start point in either West or East Berlin, and then set off to explore the city's Jewish heritage, from the days of its first 17th-century immigrants through the terrors of the Holocaust to the present day.
As you walk, learn about history-changing Berlin Jews such as Albert Einstein and philosopher Moses Mendelssohn, and chart the twists in the fortunes of the Jewish community, particularly during the devastating anti-Semitism of the 20th century and World War II. Hear, too, how Berlin is now home to one of the world’s fastest-growing Jewish communities.
See the site of the Old Synagogue and pause at the Rosenstrasse Memorial or ‘Block of Women’ monument. Hear from your guide how it honors the brave women who protested here in 1943 to save their Jewish husbands and fathers who were being held by the Nazis nearby.
View the former Jewish boys’ school, where a plaque celebrates Mendelssohn, one of its founders, and see the cemetery, where he is buried.
Stop at the Missing House, a gap in a row of buildings that marks where a house inhabited by Jews stood before being destroyed in WWII. Then, delve into the Hackesche H fe, a complex of restored old courtyards that housed many poor Jewish immigrants before the war.
Next, visit the moving Otto Weidt Museum, a workshop where Weidt protected his blind and deaf Jewish workers during the Third Reich. Tour the original workshop rooms and learn how Weidt’s efforts have earned him the moniker of the ‘Schindler of Berlin.’
Finally, stop at the 19th-century New Synagogue to admire its stunning fa ade and dome as your guide explains its history. Your tour ends here, leaving you free to go inside the synagogue independently (own expense) or make your own way back to your hotel.

Loved this tour. I believe our guide's name was Omer. He is an Israeli who moved to Berlin a number of years ago. He was very passionate about the subject matter. Our group was quite small so the conversations felt very personal and intimate. Despite the unbelievable heat, the time passed quickly and we covered quite a bit of ground and history. Yes! - this is a must-do while in Berlin

Knowledgeable and very cost effective. Well worth it. A private tour would have cost several hundred dollars and almost all sites were included in this tour.

Ariel was amazing! Great tour. We really appreciated his knowledge and as Jewish people we loved being shown the Jewish history by another fellow Jew. This was a really heartwarming tour and cant wait to be back in Berlin to learn more.

I highly recommend this fascinating tour! Our tour guide was a graduate student in Jewish Philosophy, and she covered a great deal of material the origins and development of Berlin's Jewish community, the Holocaust, and beyond in a highly engaging fashion. She moved from the macro to the micro and back - juxtaposing historical overviews with anecdotes about particular individuals. She even touched upon the contributions of luminaries such as Moses Mendelssohn to the Jewish philosophical tradition and, generations later, the thriving Berlin Jewish intellectual community of the Weimar Republic.

Incredibly informative and interesting. There was so much that we did not know about prior to the tour even though we considered ourselves fairly well-informed about Jewish life in Berlin just before as well as during World War 2. Our Israeli tour guide had all the facts at her fingertips, answering many questions about the Jewish community in Berlin, both before the war, and also at the present time. I would highly recommend this tour.

Our guide Ariel knew the subject matter very well and also did a good job managing the logistics including breaks for food and bathroom. Highly recommended.

The tour guide Asap was very knowledgeable. Buying this tour on. Viator was a nightmare. They didn't give details about where to meet, the tour company they booked and that you needed a train ticket. I ran back and forth for 45 minutes trying to find the tour almost missing it. The first two people I asked at Insider tours nice heard of Viator the third person was a charm and told me the tour was through them and ready to leave I was there an hour early You can just show up at Insider tour and go on it.
Do not book a tour if they haven't provided details about the meeting place.
