Meet your guide at your Prague hotel in the morning and arrive in Terezin after an hour-long drive through the Czech countryside. Terezin Fortress was built during the reign of Josef II and was, together with fortress Josefov near N□chod, intended as a defense against the invasions of Prussian armies.
The fortified area of Terez□n Fortress covers 398 hectares. More than 14,000 workers were involved in its construction. The 3,770 meters long walls were used as one of the most essential parts of the defense systems, the floodgates. These could be used to flood the castle moats and valleys around the fortress.
Next, visit another part of Terez□n, its Small Fortress, which served as a prison in the 19th century. During the occupation from 1939, it was used as a Gestapo jail. More than 32,000 men and women went through the fortress‘ gates during the following five years. You will also visit The Ghetto Museum (Muzeum Ghetta) and Magdeburg Barracks (Magdeburska Kasarna). Your expert guide will tell you all about the life of the Jewish people during the World War II.
Your lunch (included in tour price) will be served at restaurant Kotlina. The restaurant is located in a beautiful and calm location in the countryside and offers a wide choice of meals in a nice ambiance.
Afterwards you will have the opportunity to combine history with sports and play a nine or eighteen-hole course at the local golf resort in Terezin. The equipment (included in tour price) as well as the service of a coach (not included in tour price) can be provided for you.
