Boring monotone history lesson on a 2ish hour ride each way to and from Prague. Not enough time to enjoy Vienna, as it is super beautiful and full of life. The tour does not do the city justice. Essentially, it was a waste of time and money.

BEWARE! Took the Vienna from Prague tour with Martin Tours on June 24, 2016. It was an expensive trip that was not well executed. Some things were out of their control. Like traffic due to wrecks and construction. Stole about 40 minutes of our day. However, lots of things they could have controlled or helped. Such as, leaving on time. Scheduled to depart 830, left at 915. The guides were not prepared to pay tolls so we had to buy a pass en route. Which they couldn't locate. Lost another 40 minutes. Bought us museum tickets as included, did not check hours and it was a special day. Museum closed before we could use the tickets. Money wasted. Asked for them to buy tickets from us to use on next trip, but they refused even a partial refund. After it was all said, we lost 2 hours of our 6 hours in Vienna and wasted on unused tickets. The day was rushed and disappointing.
The guide, while very knowledgable, just spewed facts. No story telling or engaging info at all. Most of the talking was done on the drive in. Only a few stops were narrated on walking tour, then we were set free in the shopping district for 3 of the 4 hour. He was also poor at communicating the schedule for the day so people knew what to expect. Language could have played a minor role. When told about dis sipping, mets by various tourists, he acted indifferent. Lots of frustrated people.
In hind sight, I wish I'd taken the normal bus to Vienna and found my own way

This Martin Tour trip was by far the biggest mistake of our Prague trip. The cost-benefit ratio was terrible in terms of both time and money. The drive was portrayed as taking 3.5 hours each way and sold as being quicker than the 4 hours the train would take. In fact, it took 5 hours each way, so going by rail would have given us an extra 2 hours in Vienna. Because the trip had visitors who needed different languages, we had to spend twice as long at each stop on the walking tour as the monotonous monologue was repeated in each language. It took almost 3 hours, but we learned little because the dialogue was scripted and dull. Museum tickets worth 13 euros a piece came with the trip, but by the time the walking tour was over we had under 2 hours to either explore Vienna and grab something to eat or visit the Sisi museum. We decided to explore and eat. We felt stressed and rushed and could not fully enjoy the day. To make matters worse, on the trip back to Prague the driver took 20 minutes longer than we were told at our rest stop, leaving us standing outside the bus in the heat wondering where he was and when we would be on our way again. Apparently the tour guide didn't have his mobile number to call or text him. And the air conditioning was turned off during the return trip despite it being hot and humid. In hindsight we would have been better off taking the train and exploring on our own or hiring a Vienna tour company for an hour-long tour once we were in the city.

Enjoyable. Friendly driver/guide. I definitely recommend this tour.
