Discover the beauty of Dubrovnik while learning about the city’s interesting past on this historical walking tour. Meet your local guide near Pile Gate for a tour of the ancient city walls, a 1.2-mile (2-km) complex structure built in the 14th century that served as defensive structures to protect the city.

Pass By: Old Town, Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Dalmatia
We enter the old town, then head towards the city walls entrance.
Stop At: Muralles de Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Dalmatia
We will stop to buy the city walls tickets and then we will walk the city walls.
Marvel at the beautiful blue colors of the Adriatic Sea and admire breathtaking views of the port and the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while your guide takes you through the history of the city walls.
In the 11th century, the sea channel separating the city from mainland was covered up with earth, so a single wall was built to enclose the present-day Old Town. The city walls have been restored several times in history to resemble their original appearance. With your guide, see Fort Revelin and Minceta Tower within the city walls (entrance fees not included), and learn the strategic position of these forts and their role in Dubrovnik's history. You will also see Fort Lovrijenac in the distance, the only fort that belongs to the city walls but it's physically separated from them, and which you may visit after the tour.
As you wander around Dubrovnik's ancient walls, your guide will explain the defensive and political challenges faced by Dubrovnik in the past. Hear stories of the rivalry and conquest Dubrovnik has faced and learn the secrets of how the country used defensive fortifications and diplomacy to remain an independent republic for several years, before ending your tour near the port.

Really enjoyed our tour, our guide gave an interesting and excellent in-depth insight into the history of not only the walls but of Dubrovnik's history throughout the ages as well. She was more than happy to answer any questions and ensured she engaged all members of the group both young and old.

Loved this tour. Much better to go with a guide than just wander yourself. Our guide - Marko Milo I think - was really entertaining and really bought the history to life. Loved his enthusiasm for 'Death Metal' even though it's not for me! Would def ask for this guy if you can.

This was amazing! Unfortunately we had got our time wrong and as soon as we realised we phoned the number on our voucher. They couldn't have been more helpful. While there wasn't another group time that fitted around our cruise timings they offered to see if they could get a private guide for us - this was an extra 12 euros each but so worth it! They followed through and phoned us back almost immediately saying they had a guide and for us to get there as soon as we could. Davor was an awesome guide. Very knowledgeable and his passion was evident. He kept to a pace that we could all cope with in the extreme heat and was very informative. Our timing mistake actually worked in our favour! Absolutely recommend this tour operator.

Michael was our guide gave us history etc. When we got to other side of wall we could not find him. And had to find exit by ourselves .

I wish I could give this more stars! Such a beautiful city in a beautiful setting. Hiking the walls was an incredible experience. We witnessed a gorgeous sunset to end our evening.

Our guide was not only a native Dubrovnik-ian, he actually grew up and still lives in the Old City. This tour is packed with history and includes the interesting historical perspective of someone who was a refugee during the Bosnian War. The actual name of this tour was 'Wars and Walls' and is 2.5 hours but it is immensely interesting and a great way to get an overview of, not only the history of the city, but the layout as well. You can't beat the views unless you go up the cable car to Srd Hill which we also recommend. Take the cable car up and hike down It does NOT include the cost of the admission ticket to the wall 30 USD and be sure to take sun protection and water as it is beastly hot in the Summer with no shade.

Really great tour with an entertaining and informative tour guide who spoke great English. Great views. Very cool to learn about the history of the city. Would definitely recommend!
