產品介紹
After meeting your local guide and group in Montreal’s Plateau neighborhood, begin your unforgettable food experience by walking to the Academy of Living Foods, which takes place in a sunny loft with views of the Mile End district.
The academy is run by trendy local eatery Crudessence. One of Montreal’s best-known vegan restaurants, Crudessence promotes the philosophy that a diet free of all animal products is good for the environment, as well as for your health and quality of life. When you arrive at the loft, sit down for the introductory demonstration of how to create delicious dishes out of organic vegan ingredients. The academy comes with tastings, which may include things like vegan key lime pie, raw chocolate or fresh seed milk.
Next, visit one of three food-production sites, depending on the day of your tour ─ a kombucha factory, a rooftop commercial greenhouse or a tempeh factory. You are most likely to visit the kombucha factory, where you'll see the fermentation process and learn more about this hip carbonated tea drink that’s all the rage in health food circles. At the greenhouse, Lufa Farms, see urban agriculture in action as you learn about the environmentally friendly methods of recycling water and maximizing sunlight. At the tempeh factory, one of the only in Canada, see how tempeh is made from fermented soybeans.
Finally, follow your guide to your last stop, ChuChai, a fashionable vegan Thai restaurant popular for its innovative twist on meat substitutes that are so good, most people who aren't aware that the meat is fake don't have a clue it's not real. The menu changes here, but typical dishes include crispy ‘duck,’ lemon ‘fish,’ yellow ‘beef’ curry, and eggplant and ‘shrimp.' You’ll also enjoy a glass of nut or seed milk, Thai tea, a dessert like chocolate mousse or banana fritters, and a glass of kombucha.
If you take the tour on a Sunday, you'll skip ChuChai and instead enjoy a vegan brunch at Aux Vivres. Typical dishes here include a tofu scramble, tempeh bacon, guacamole, fresh salsa, non-cheesecake, carrot cake and coconut pie.
Your tour ends at ChuChai (or Crudessence in Mile End Sundays), from where you can continue your exploration of Montreal's lively Plateau neighborhood on your own.
