The Musikverein was inaugurated by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1870. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's New Year's Concert, broadcast worldwide every year, is performed in the famous Golden Hall of the Musikverein. It is the permanent seat of the orchestra, and is air-conditioned.

The program of the Vienna Mozart Concerts is characterized by a very accurate selection of the works. The artistic conception giving ground to the musical sequence of overtures, arias, duets, movements of symphonies and concerts offers powerful insight in the titanic works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Performers
The Vienna Mozart Orchestra includes 30 musicians from the best Viennese orchestras; 2 opera singers (soprano and baritone) from the Vienna State Opera and Volksopera; and 1 soloist for piano, violin and flute.

Formerly the winter residence of the Habsburgs, the Hofburg has a unique situation among the great festive halls in Vienna. It was here that the Emperor entertained his guests. Modern technical systems, such as air-conditioning have been successfully integrated into this magnificent hall.
History of the Vienna Mozart Orchestra
The Vienna Mozart Orchestra was founded in 1986 by musicians from the best and most famous Viennese orchestras and from various chambers music ensembles. The artists all shared the aim of preserving the musical tradition and the cultural of Vienna by dedicating themselves to the cultivation and representation of symphonic chamber music of the Viennese Classical Period.
As the name Vienna Mozart Orchestra implies, the 30 musicians devote themselves exclusively to the works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the most accomplished representative of that period who, though born in Salzburg, found his home in Vienna. The orchestra's repertoire ranges from all of Mozart's symphonies to a great variety of his instrumental concertos (for violin, piano and wind) to arias and duets from his most famous operas.

This is a must do attraction when in Vienna. Very well organized music concert and who doesnt love Mozart's music!
However, please do not select the lowest fare seating, as it is set behind the stage. We ended up sitting behind the orchestra, facing the main audience. It was really disappointing as we couldnt enjoy the orchestra and only hear the music!!Otherwise, this is a really nice concert in Vienna!

We opted for the VIP tickets and it was well worth it. The Opus restaurant located in the Hotel Imperial is just beautiful and first class although I might not recommend for the picky eater. Our Paige Michael who came to escort us to our carriage couldnt have been nicer and was kind enough to take pictures for us. Our Fiaker driver was well versed in the history of the area and pointed out all places of interest and told wonderful stories. The performances were top notch with some very talented musicians and singers. We were able to enjoy a glass of champagne during intermission and speak with the conductor, soprano and baritone who all made us feel very welcome. The time flew by when I had originally thought I might have gotten bored we found ourselves thoroughly entertained and the show was quite funny as well which we had not expected. Do get tickets , it will not dissapoint!

Excellent service, from the fine dining restaurant, to the person who meets you and brings you to your carriage, to meeting the conductor and singers, and finally getting escorted out with a goodie bag at the end. Loved every moment of this experience, was a very special way to experience Vienna with my wife for the first time. Thank you very much!

Starting with a beautifully prepared meal, going to the concert in the horse drawn carriage, being treated as special at the Musikverein with excellent seats, ending with the conversation with the primo donna and primo uomo. Everything was wonderful, well handled, and worth the extra expense. The experience will long be remembered.

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We had seats on stage right next to the orchestra, choir and opera singers. Not sure how that happened but what an experience. Beautiful location and a fantastic night.

The concert itself was fun and enjoyable but I dont think I would book through here again for the tickets. We had terrible seats and could barely see the concert. These were almost the top price tickets. I think there was one level above what we paid. If possible, I would opt to go directly to actual music hall site where you can pick your seats and see where youll be. We paid almost 100 to listen to music not see anything. Pretty disappointed in that.

It was absolutely worth paying for the VIP package. The dinner at Opus Restaurant in Imperial Hotel was delicious and the service was very attentive. Then the Mozart Page came to greet us and pick us up from the restaurant to go on the carriage ride. We had thought the carriage ride would be only from the restaurant to the concert hall but it was a 30-minute ride around town in Vienna which was beautiful in the lights. Then the concert was completely enjoyable and fun. The musicians looked like they loved performing for the audience and the conductor was great to involve the audience in a couple of pieces to make the concert very memorable for us all. We would recommend this to everyone!

Lots of tourists, but the music was beautiful in a stunning venue. It was a very enjoyable experience
