Pack your bathing suit and head to Teatro Col□n in downtown Buenos Aires, where a private car awaits to take you to Puesto Viejo, a 544-acre (220-hectare) estancia located about an hour outside of the city.
Upon arrival, marvel at the serene landscape of the Argentine pampas, or lowland plains, dotted with conifers, eucalyptus and willow trees, on land that formerly belonged to a large cattle farm. Inside the clubhouse, enjoy a welcome snack of cake, coffee and tea.
Then you’re off to the polo field for the first of two lessons with a professional player. Don’t fret if you’ve never ridden a horse or tried polo; the lesson will be tailored to your skill level. After a safety briefing, climb onto a horse suitable to your riding ability. Take hold of your taco (polo mallet) and learn the essentials of the sport from your expert instructor. Once you have the basics, practice chasing the ball toward the goal posts.
After your lesson, dig into a delicious three-course traditional asado lunch of barbecued meats, paired with malbec wine. Indulge in free time after your meal when you slip on your bathing suit for a dip in the infinity pool, or bike around the peaceful grounds.
For your second polo lesson, brush up on the skills you learned earlier and compete in your own mini polo match! Strategize with your team members and engage in high-octane fun as you race down the field on your horse.
Time and schedule permitting, you may also get to watch live polo and witness an adrenaline-fueled match of four chukkas (similar to quarters or periods) involving 30 horses.
At the end of your exciting polo day, relax with provided drinks and snacks at the clubhouse. A private car transports you back to Buenos Aires.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day! Pick up was on time by a private car. Julio was our pro instructor and we fell in love with him. He was patient and encouraging and just plain fun. Liliana the owner joined us for arousing afternoon of play and we had a lot of laughs. Loved the energy of the estancia!

This was an awesome experience. Everyone at the Estancia was so nice and accommodating. My son and I had riding experience already and it was raining on the day we went so although we did not get to see a polo game after our lesson because of the weather. We got a private lesson because nobody else showed up. Our polo teacher Julio Casarez was charming and funny, he made us laugh and we felt right at home even when we were missing the shots, he stayed with us an entertained us all day. Like previously mentioned everyone of the ranch staff made us feel welcome and Griselda went out of her way to communicate with us and take care of us. We loved this tour, what a great day. This day was amazing! My husband and I are early 30s, and had never before ridden horses. We had a wonderful day with personalized attention, delicious food, and lots of time to play the game.

Good fun day out. Food and facilities were excellent. Instructor was knowledgeable and friendly. Would have liked photos taken of us when playing polo.

Wonderful day trip to the countryside to learn how to ride a horse and play polo. Julio, our talented instructor, catered to our individual skill level and to the weather we went on a rainy day and had a fantastic time. Julio is very knowledgable about the history of the sport and extremely engaging. Lunch was lovely -- well-prepared with fresh ingredients. Highly recommended excursion outside of Buenos Aires if you have the time. Private transfers to/from our hotel didn't hurt.

Great experience overall but we are experienced riders and found it really hard to enjoy the game because our poor ponies were so quiet and slow. I understand that they need to be quiet for inexperienced riders and would not have expected to be given valuable polo ponies of course. Our instructor was great, the food was nice, the grounds are lovely. We would return. We recommend.

This activity exceeded my expectations. I had never played polo before and knew very little about it and my experience riding a horse is about beginner/average. Julio was an amazing teacher and we had great fun playing polo and enjoying the beautiful grounds at Puesto Viejo Estancia. The hospitality was excellent - everyone so friendly, and the served a delicious steak lunch and appetizers before and after the polo experience. This was one of the highlights of our South America trip.
