Choose the departure time most convenient for you, then start with a pickup from your Amsterdam hotel. Alternatively, make your own way to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.Meet your pilot and crew at the airport's KLM Jet Center, then tour the airplane that will be your mode of transport for the day. Built in 1944, the DC-3 Dakota Princess Amalia was an Air Force plane that participated in WWII’s Operation Market Garden, an Allied military operation fought in the Netherlands and Germany.Board the 12-seat plane and ascend to a height of around 1,400 feet (450 meters). From here, you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the sights below. See iconic Dutch landscapes, complete with canals and windmills, below. As you cruise, look out for the unique polders on the terrain below. These swaths of low-lying land have been reclaimed from the sea and are most noticeable when seen from above.Once you reach Keukenhof Gardens, the show truly begins. Whisk over the breathtaking landscape, where millions of tulips and other blossoms have been carefully planted and meticulously landscaped to create a splendid array of colorful patterns and displays.After approximately 30 minutes in flight, touch down on the runway back at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, where your experience conludes. If you’ve selected a transfer, enjoy a drop-off back to your central Amsterdam hotel.
