Start your tour near Amsterdam’s Bierkoning shop, and then set off with your guide to explore Amsterdam’s legendary bars while learning about the Netherlands’ historical brewing industry. Having produced beer since the early 17th century, the country rapidly expanded its production about three centuries later, leading to its internationally renowned reputation as a beer-brewing powerhouse.
As you walk along Amsterdam’s pretty cobbled streets, passing canals and scenic gabled houses, visit a succession of different bars a collection of much-loved locals’ favorites and sample three quality Dutch beers as well as a typical bar snack. Hear how American and German influences have shaped the country’s brewing industry, and visit an intriguing little place where Amsterdam 16th-century nuns once made their own brews.
Detour away from the pretty back streets and wander through Amsterdam’s bold and brash Red Light District, passing fluorescent signs lighting up the windows where pouting girls flaunt their trade. Escape the neighborhood’s crowds and head to a small brewery located in the heart of the district to sample a range of their beers in an atmospheric tasting room.
Walk back toward the center of Amsterdam and finish your beer tour in a legendary local beer hall where more than 200 different varieties of beer are on offer! Sip on a pale lager, gulp down bitter ale or sample strong triple malt to end your tour on a high note. My family and I signed up for this beer tour and were not disappointed in any way. In total our tour was a group of eight that were a lot of fun. And the tour guide was fantastic! So much information and such good company to talk to. By the end of the tour we all felt like we had made some new friends and we all hugged goodbye. I highly recommend it!

Arthur was a fantastic guide. The tour had a great balance of types of bars small dive type, microbrewery, locals favorites. On the walks between the locations, he also filled in local history and interesting tidbits. Overall, would highly recommend!

Great being in a small group, you get to see the small bars that are hidden away. The Proeflokall 't Kelkje was particularly good!

This tour was well worth the time and money. Can I was an excellent and welcoming guide. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The small group setting was perfect and I would recommend this tour to anyone-especially the solo traveler looking for a fun night out!

We enjoyed all the small spots that we went to and were recommended, but we were expecting more information/history about the beer. Also, you do not get to go inside the brewery in the red light district. You go into a small tasting room and you just choose what you want to drink. Not much information about the beers overall. I would save a beer tour for some place in Brugge.

I always do a food or beer tour on my first day in a new city as it is a great way to get the lay of the land and discover new places you might not have known about. I was a bit let down on this tour. The guide, while quite friendly, spent more time chatting with the bartenders than explaining anything about beer. He did give some information about the area as we walked place to place, but it was drawn out by questions we had to ask. The 'snack' was literally shelled peanuts. If you are an independent traveler, I wouldn't recommend this tour, especially for the price of 20/beer!

The key to a good tour is the guide and our guide was OUTSTANDING!! He was knowledgeable...and had selected great bars with different types of beers for us to sample. Samples were plenty...full size beers. Loved getting a tour of Amsterdam everywhere we walked as well. Perfect to end the night near the Red Light District so we didn't have far to go. Guide really tried to find us the best match for our liking at each pub. Loved that it was only a small group....felt like a personal tour.
