Your 4-day Beatrix Potter experience includes free time and two Lake District tours. On Day 2, ogle the scenery of the National Park on a Ten Lakes Spectacular tour showcasing ten lakes, pretty villages and the market town of Keswick. On Day 3, enjoy a half-day tour of the places linked to the writer, Beatrix Potter, including her former home of Hill Top House.Your tour includes three nights’ accommodation at the Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel, a 4-star hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere set in a house once owned by Beatrix. Three breakfasts and three dinners are also included, as are transfers between the hotel and Windermere railway station or your Windermere, Bowness or Ambleside accommodation, at the start and end of your stay.Please note: Hill Top House is closed on Fridays. Day 1: Bowness-on-Windermere (D)Begin your experience with a pickup from Windermere railway station or your centrally located hotel in Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere or Ambleside.Settle into your comfortable mini-coach with your driver, and travel to the Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel, on the fringes of Bowness. This 4-star hotel stands in six acres of gardens with picturesque views of nearby Lake Windermere, and occupies a large Victorian house once owned by Beatrix Potter, who bought the property for her mother in 1915.Upon arrival, check in and spend the rest of the day as you please. Perhaps get to know nearby Bowness, with its delightful shops, cafes and restaurants, or relax and admire the lake views from the hotel gardens. Tonight, enjoy dinner at the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant.Overnight: 4-star Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel in BownessDay 2: Bowness Ambleside Grasmere - Keswick Buttermere Castlerigg - Bowness (B, D)After breakfast at the hotel, meet your driver, who doubles as your guide, at your hotel and set off in your shared mini-coach on your Ten Lakes Spectacular tour. The tour showcases the best of England’s largest National Park, taking you to 10 beautiful lakes, through majestic mountain passes, and to other beauty spots, including a waterfall, ancient stone circle and delightful towns and villages.As you travel, admire the views over the fells and lakes and hear interesting facts from your guide about the history, events and people that have shaped the history of this much-loved region.Trace the shores of Lake Windermere, England’s longest lake, and stretch your legs in the pretty village of Ambleside. After a stop for photos at Rydal Water, continue to the tiny village of Grasmere, and admire the beautiful reservoir at Thirlmere before traveling through the Borrowdale Valley and past Bassenthwaite Lake.Follow Honister Pass to visit the quaint village of Buttermere before heading past Crummock Water to Keswick. Enjoy free time for lunch (own expense) and to look around this charming market town independently, and then pick up your tour again. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, an ancient ring of stones, and hear how its 48 stones were probably placed here in around 3000 BC for ceremonial purposes.Board a cruise boat and enjoy the passing mountain views as you sail along one of the region’s lakes. Also, stop to take snaps at one of the Park’s waterfalls.After roughly 6.5 hours, travel back to Bowness where your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel. Perhaps shop for souvenirs in Bowness or take a scenic walk along one of the trails that skirt Lake Windermere.Around midday, meet your driver-guide at your hotel for your 4.5-hour Beatrix Potter Lakeland tour. Board your shared mini-coach and hear fascinating stories about Beatrix and her deep love of the Lake District, where she chose to live and work for much for her life.Stop first at Bowness Bay and and take an enjoyable cruise on Lake Windermere to Waterhead, where the children’s author spent many of her childhood vacations.Admire the craggy peaks surrounding the lake as you sail, and afterward, travel onward by coach to Hill Top House, the 17th-century farm that Beatrix bought in 1905 after her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit.Go inside (additional cost) and explore the quaint rooms that have been left as Beatrix wished, with many of her furnishings and other possessions still in place. See her writing desk and recognise some of the scenes she drew for stories such as The Tale of Samuel Whiskers.Stroll around the pretty cottage gardens that inspired the exploits of many of her stories, and scout around the Potter memorabilia at the National Trust shop.After, head for the nearby village of Hawkshead. Chris, Bob, and Tony were great drivers and guides. Four nights of very formal dining at Lindeth Howe House got a bit tedious. Otherwise, everything was fine. For the the Beatrix Potter tour, I suggest adding the Amrit Library in Ambleside.

One word: sensational. Only wish it had been double the time. Great gourmet food, lovely building, gorgeous garden. Very warm and welcoming staff. Wonderful area.

Despite rainy weather--the overall experience was excellent! The hotel was very special--with most of the staff more then accommodating. The driver/guides were informed and entertaining! Just be sure to have your arrival plans planned as best as possible to avoid mix ups. Would like to suggest that Mountain Goat somehow acknowledges their name on their answering service--the call name was confusing and left us wondering if we were at the right place phone wise. Travelers be sure to keep a list of all contacts and numbers at the ready and remember different calling methods are used in different areas --even within the same country. All in all we'dig again if given the oppertunity!!! BON VOYAGE!!!

The whole experience was excellent. The hotel accommodation was fairly ordinary, but the food was definitely 5 star. Mountain Goat Tours were terrific. The Beatrix Pottery Experience is excellent value for money.

I enjoyed tour very much. the Lindeth Howe Hotel was very good, the staff very helpful. They answered all my questions and were very kind. The Mountain Goat tours were very good, the guides, bus drivers were very knowledgable. It was a delightful experience.

Disappointing.Hotel very expensive and out of town.Four days were really one full day tour AND one half day tour. day one was check into hotel, and day four was check out of hotel. Mountain Goat tours were very good. The four days would be better spent arranging own hotel, tours and activities closer to Bowness.
- It was a little disappointing as we did not visit all the sites that are listed on the website. Apart from that the accommodation at Lindeth Howe Hotel was excellent. The drivers were very pleasant and helpful and the itinerary good just did not visit all that was listed.
