Leave London’s Marble Arch by air-conditioned minivan, and travel west to the rolling limestone hills of Oxfordshire. On the journey, your guide will keep you entertained with tales and trivia about the

Filmed mostly in and around Oxfordshire, the British period drama of
Downton Abbey documents the dramas and scandals of the fictional Crawley family and their servants in the days leading up to and after World War I. Hear insider gossip about characters such as Lady Mary, and discover little-known facts about the shooting locations included on your tour. Stop at a farm nestled in the hills near Cogges and enjoy a hot drink (own expense) in the farm’s rustic cafe before you check out filming locations around the farm.
Continue to Bampton in the Cotswolds. The stone cottages and leafy, twisting streets in this quintessential English village might look familiar; scenes depicting the Downton village are often shot here and appear throughout the entire series. On a walking tour, see the village church — the site of Lady Mary’s wedding to Matthew Crawley — and the house that was once used as the Crawley family home. Stroll along the main street, spotting shops and the fictional Grantham Arms pub that appear in many episodes.
Travel onward to the historical village of Shilton to explore its center, including a quaint village pub that is surrounded by ponds, medieval bridges and wells. From Shilton, travel to a pub in Swinbrook for lunch (own expense) where Lady Sybil eloped with the family chauffeur Branson; enjoy a quick stop in the village of Bladon to see the graves of Sir Winston Churchill and his wife; and finish the tour at Blenheim Palace — a UNESCO World Heritage site.
While not used as a
Downton Abbey filming location, one can imagine the palace's stately grandeur that would impress the Crawley family. Take a walking tour that delves into the history of Winston Churchill's ancestral home, originally given to the first duke of Marlborough as a gift from the English Parliament. Wander through the State Apartments, and then explore a section of the beautiful landscaped gardens that feature the Temple of Diana. early morning start for the tour, but who cares we could not wait, the yew tree farm was really good, loved that, the tour guide was very well informed i found the village part of the tour quite rushed, Blenheim palace was wonderful, we had time to do our own thing here, the grounds were beautiful there is a shop which is well stocked and cafe to relax in or grab an ice cream and sit in the gardens my only moan is that we got back to london an hour earlier, perhaps that hour could have been spent in the village and our lunch break was not long enough by the time we got served and our meal arrived it was time to leave with some of our lunch left behind but in saying that i loved it

I can only give this tour 3 stars as it was not all I had hoped for. The tour guide, although very familiar with all of it, was in a hurry and cut our tour short by about 3 hours. My friends and I felt pushed and rushed so not able to get all the photos we had hoped for. Apparently, she had told one of my friends she was in a hurry to get some shopping done and spend time with her family. We did enjoy what we saw. The guide also stated a couple facts about Downton Abbley that were not correct, unless the British version is very different from the American one. Blenheim was wonderful but again, we were rushed and not able to enjoy all it had to offer.

We were most disappointed in the tour. We left London reasonably on time but unknown to us we had to stop in Oxford to pick up two more passengers. This added at least 30 minutes each way to what was already a long drive from London. Our guide had no fun inside information on Downton Abbey and her depth of knowledge on the TV series was limited. We knew the we were not going to see the actual Downton Abbey Highclere Castle closed for filming. The other Downton Abbey stop were underwhelming. We only had 45 min to eat lunch in a quaint village and had no time to explore the town. Blenheim was FANTASTIC. Should have spent the entire day at Blenheim. I would not recommend this tour with its present itinerary.

A must for all Downton Abbey fans! Blenheim Palace is a World Heritage Site and was a highlight of our trip to England. Winston Churchill's birthplace and childhood home. Don't miss seeing this amazing, historical palace and gardens.

First, as others have noted, our tour guide, Tony, was not only knowledgeable but had a great wit. It was a perfect match for our group of four - who coincidentally, were all from California. As we were a small group with a smaller coach we had some flexibility in our day and were able to visit some other areas. For me the Blenheim Palace was the best. Highly recommend a day with Tony.

After seeing the series on PBS, I was eager to see the show's filming sites. It was worth the day trip! I also learned some local bits about the places we visited in the morning. Blenheim Palace is really beautiful! Of interest, the current ducal family still lives in part of the palace which isn't open to the public.
Since we were a small group of 6, our driver dropped us off at requested spots in London. -

Enjoyed the tour. Irish Tony knew his stuff and was a great driver. We had a smallish group so it was more personal. Enjoyed all the Downton sites and now want to watch all the episodes again. Blenheim Palace is beautiful.
