Head west by comfortable mini-coach along the chalk countryside of Wiltshire and visit one of the oldest sites in England, Old Sarum, where the Iron Age hill fort bears witness to layers of British history. Learn from your expert guide how every culture from the Celts to the Normans has left their mark on this impressive and primeval site. Take a guided tour of the 11th-century castle and take in the spectacular views down the Avon Valley before continuing on your tour.
After a short drive, arrive at the magnificent 13th-century Salisbury Cathedral, featuring one of the tallest spires in the country. Discover one of the oldest working clocks in Europe and the country’s best preserved original copy of the major constitution from 1215, the Magna Carta. Take time to explore the city and have lunch in one of the nearby restaurants (own expense).
Pass beautiful villages of thatch and flint while taking the back roads through Woodford Valley. Arrive at the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge. Here, your guide will share mysteries, theories and facts of this enigmatic site, and will enlighten you about the different building periods, the stones’ alignments and the people who worshipped here. Take time to absorb the powerful monument before continuing to other Stone Age sites in the area.
Go inside the 5,500-year-old Neolithic burial chamber of West Kennet Long Barrow and see the remains of the ancient people who once lived there. You will be stunned by the area’s landscape, including Silbury Hill one of Europe's tallest prehistoric structures. Finally, visit the stone circles at Avebury. Sixteen times larger than Stonehenge, this historic location features more than 100 standing stones and a circumference so large that the village of Avebury fits inside! Small group, Driver was great. Knowledgeable.
Stonehenge is amazing, Salisbury has the Magna Carta.
Avebury has different shapes of stones than Stonehenge,
as well as a nice little pub for a pint. -
This was a fantastic tour- smaller group,comfortable,more time,great access and knowlegable and entertaining guide. also excellent driver complimented the trip. Thematically linked tour was great.

We had the best time on this tour. Tony, our Tour Guide, was so knowledgable, insightful, and funny. We so enjoyed listening to him throughout the day. His insights brought incredible depth to our experience. The sights were stunning, from the beauty of the Salisbury Cathedral and the historical significance of the Magna Carta, to the magnificence of Stonehenge with its stark setting in the middle of lush green fields, to the approachable and touchable stone circles of Avebury. We would definitely take this tour again. Our weather was sunny and quite warm, so you might want to bring along some sunscreen.

Great guide - well informed and friendly.
Could cut time spent in Salisbury to give more time at Stonehenge, particularly the new Interpretive Centre.
Highly recommended for those interested in early cultures.
Small groups are the way to go - people don't get overlooked and lost. -

Small group nice van, and David was a WONDERFUL guide--extremely knowledgeable and conversant without being annoying (as some guides can be). Loved Old Sarum, Salisbury, Stonehenge, and Avebury. I just don't know how the trip could have been nicer. And since it was my birthday--David had everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to me--What a way to celebrate!

David was a very knowledgeable and organised tour guide. We even saw an unexpected crop circle on our tour! Highly recommended.

Exactly what I had hoped for. No mystical moonshine - just a clear, fascinating, and well-informed introduction to the sites. David's knowledge of history, scholarship, and recent discoveries was impressive, and he struck just the right balance between giving us information and allowing us to experience the sites for ourselves. I only wish the trip had been a little longer!

I enjoyed this tour very much. I was astonished at the guide's breadth and depth of knowledge on the tour stops, as well as other sites along the way. He was very personable and fun.
